Commonwealth War Cemetery
British War Cemetery by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. 3,600 burials of the second world war. The Bomber Command flew over 380,000 sorties and lost 55,500 men, 44% of the air soldiers, average age 21. Graves also from Australian, Canadian and Polish soldiers.

Extremely moving and emotional place when you realise the average age of the RAF Bomber Crews was 20 ! Even though its not far from the City centre, very peacefull. Would recommend all UK visitors to the City, make this a must go place. Don't forget to sign the Visitor Book !

Not only soldiers/bomber crews of WW II are buried here. I found also the crew of Hastings TG611, which crashed at Tegel during the Berlin Airlift 16 July 1949.

After much searching, I understand my Great Great grandad is buried here, part of 626 Squadron, Avro Lancaster, took off from RAF Wickenby... I hope to find my family member this year, nearly 80 years since he died.. I hope I can finally find his resting place..

Well kept and a special place. Nice to see a place dedicated to those who served in the skies for peace and freedom.

A wonderfully well kept cemetery. A place to reflect on the impact of a terrible conflict.
