I G Property

My friends and I reserved a property early January and upon receiving the email confirming that we will be paying the full rent upfront since we don’t have guarantors we did not receive anything ever since. In April I emailed them again about when we will be receiving our tenancy agreement and then they tell us that we did not sign the tenancy agreement in time and the house has been let to another group. We did not receive any tenancy agreement or any emails asking us to take action. We did not even receive a notice that we did not sign the agreement and that it has been let to another group. This is outrageous and now we have to frantically search for another property in such a short period of time.

i cant recommend this company enough, we reported maintenance issues on the app and despite having lost their usual worker they fixed everything before the academic year even started! The owner Ian was super friendly and was acting as the maintenance person whilst they found someone new. He went beyond what was expected of him, and put our previous landlord to shame! Explaining everything very clearly making sure we were aware of the new heating rules to avoid us being overcharged!

I’d give the rating a 0 stars if I could. For the last year we have had nothing but bother with this company. Since moving in to one of their properties in July 2022, has been nothing but a hassle. From the first day of living in the property we arrived to rubbish outside our house with a singular black bin that was full of previous tenants rubbish. The properly had one small black bin for 5 people so we requested a 2nd black bin and where told we had the correct bin for our house (we didn’t). Unfortunately this cause rats. For the first month we lived here we had to set rat traps. We went months without a 2nd bin until one day a 2nd randomly turned up having no contact from IG.Upon moving in all tentant were given a front and back door key but no bedroom keys. When asked about bedroom keys we were told we weren’t entitled to them. The contract stated the landlord wasn’t obliged to give keys so we thought it was worth a try since having multiple friends with the same company who had access to bedroom keys. After being denied keys by IG multiple times we sent a letter to the landlord and they replied promptly saying they would give us bedroom keys. We informed IG property we’d been granted access for bedroom keys, who then lied to the landlord stating they’d already been granted. Furthermore finding out 2/6 bedrooms in our house had a Yale latch lock and IG should have issue bedroom keys for these locks upon moving in.When it came to the first house inspection we were not impressed yet again. The 2 woman doing the house inspection listening to our concerns and noted everything wrong with the property. However when waiting for the maintenance team they never showed up. We were told all issues were reported and would be fixed when the maintence team was available. After numerous weeks we noticed nobody showed up, so we contacted IG to find out nothing had been reported! Upon ringing them we had to re-report the issues and a maintenance man was out the next day. We were not impressed especially since some of the issue were quite concerning. Let down by the company yet again, eventho the contact stated they must “Keep in good repair of the structure, fabric and exterior of the property”.The maintenance team weren’t good either. Often they would show up to fix things and do nothing. Like the time a man showed up to fix the cooker panel. He placed our panel on top of a cupbord and left instead of fixing it. Our downstairs shower leaked for months and IG done nothing about, when maintence were showing up they didn’t see where the leak was coming from and would just leave. This company do not see students as people and clearly think we’re a great way of exploiting money.Months into the tenancy after all issue were finally fixed we felt harassed by the company. After being badly treated by the company we noticed we were receiving emails all the time informing us of people coming on to the property. For weeks we had multiple people entering the property for various reasons which seemed like an excuse to spy on us. After getting nothing back all of a sudden we had multiple visits from various people. Getting 4 visits in March and more leading into the April. Some for ‘gas readings’ which had already been done a couple months prior.If you are thinking of renting from this company I seriously suggest you reconsidered. After this treatment some of us gave away our house with IG for the following year, which was also a lot of hassle including getting emails being told “not to contact them”. The staff are rude and every interaction consisted of attitude from them with very patronising tones. This company isn’t worth the time or money. The way they treat student is diabolical and shouldn’t be allowed.

Its a shame 1 star is the minimum. This company are morally bankrupt and city of York council are spineless to enforce the law. Apparently the director Ian Furby is friends with the HMO team so no conflict of interests there whilst students are taken advantage off with properties that aren't fit for purpose and don't conform to legal specifications. If I ever have the misfortune of meeting Ian in person I'm likely to spend some time in a prison cell which ironically will be bigger than the 5.4 sqm the red cross recommend never mind the 6.51 defined by law. However They think its ok to rent rooms for extortionate prices that are 5.02 sqm

I applied for a student property, in which the deposit was high, and I was under the impression that bills was included, in which it wasn’t and this wasn’t stated on the description. I didn’t realise this till after the contract, and told them that I couldn’t afford that, in which they was quite rude about it and totally unsupportive. I completely lost the deposit of £550 and took another fee from me to change contacts as well. As a student, this is so much money to lose! Please don’t rush when signing a property with them. Clearly care about money before tenants.

Compared to our new letting agent IGproperty is very good at what they do. Whilst the price of the accommodation was quite expensive in the time we where they're our boiler and carpets where had a much needed replacement. They always gave us notice when visiting the property and where always kind and quick in handling emergency requests. Would definitely recommend.

Although they have some good properties on offer for reasonable prices, the maintenance support of the properties is appalling.I entered a house share which specified all basic essentials to be provided including WiFi, we were without Internet for 3 weeks from the initial move with consistent perseverance of trying to fix this both with the internet provider and IG, whom eventually sent out a guy called Simon who was a lovely guy but came to the same conclusion I did 2 weeks prior, which is that Glide (our internet provider) is utterly useless.No Kettle or Kitchen bin was provided and the hot water stopped working within a week.We were left at wits end with them so I gave up and managed to single handedly solve all the problems out of myoir own pocket;Admittedly IG were 'kind' enough to allow me to have the price of the kitchen bin be taken off my next rent payment.Also, we only have had one small dustbin to fit 4 individual adults waste in which leaves massive excess waste, we have begged IG and York Council for extra bins and to take our rubbish but both of them said in a patronising manner it's a case of managing waste correctly".Overall

I rang regarding a query on my upcoming tenancy and they answered my questions swiftly, clearly and in full details. I'm very impressed with the level of service received so far from IG.

Immensely disappointed. I had applied to rent a house in early January and was told to sign the tenant agreement within three days after it had been sent, and received nothing for three months. Only after enquiring the staff in mid-April did I know that the contract had been sent out in mid-January, and presumably due to technical (or human) errors we were not notified. Without any further contact the property was remarketed, and we're not able to rent it anymore. IG property has caused us great inconvenience. Would definitely not recommend.

In 2015 I moved to York with a friend. We found a nice house in York using IG Property. Initially their customer service was good even though we had to pay the house rent of six months in a single sum, being we foreigners and not having any guarantor. When we moved to the house we found the garden totally dirty and the oven disgustingly dirty. We asked them to solve the problem with a housekeeper to clean it. They said yes but they had never done it despite of several mails we sent them. Moreover, when we moved, the house had a wifi problem ad we had no wifi for two weeks and the wifi service was included in the services we paid. We asked a refund about it but they totally ignored out request. Very unprofessional!!
