A hidden gem for a day out in Swansea, only open a few times a year on bank holidays for riding several trains in the middle of a housing estate, only £1 entry and £1 per ride toilets and refreshments available with seating outside or lawn area for picnics. Not many people know of this on their doorstep so still quiet for bank holiday weekend.

Excellent fun on the miniature railway. This privately run attraction is such a joy. Children and adults can enjoy a loner than usual trip on a miniature stream train for £1 a ride in idillic grounds.

A lovely little place for rides behind minature steam and diesel engines with 'sit on top - legs at either side' bench like carriages. The double looped track features a tunnel, cuttings and a viaduct, the volunteers are friendly and the entrance fee and ride fee are very reasonable. The rating reflects the sort of facilities you would expect for an occasional, volunteer run centre; but this is no criticism and it's well worth an hour of your time - or more. Note: Only open Bank Holiday Weekends.

Hidden gem. We had such a lovely morning down here. They had 3 little trains running , 1 pound a train ride . Also 1 pound entry. Lovely green area where lots had bought picnics. Children and adults enjoyed the ride. Highly recommended.

Only open bank holidays run by volunteers, can't wait to go back next year. Compact, reasonably priced and a lovely local spectacle. No parking on site

This is one of our favourite location to go to. It's one of the cheapest places, even I can afford it with very low income. The children love the miniature trains, as they can sit on them and the train drivers take us around a long loop to arrive back to the station".Unfortunately they are only open from the first Bank Holiday weekend in May till the end of August on every Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. The entry last time we went was £1.00/pp and 1 ride was £0.50. They have a nice green area where you can bring your picnic and sit on the lawn. Children can safely run about

Yearly bank holiday tradition of going to Derwen Fawr mini railway, a wonderful family experience. The most helpful passionate and lovely volunteers running an amazing and magical activity for kids and adults alike. Bring cash for entry and rides (it's very reasonable!), a picnic blanket and snacks and you'll have a lovely time.

what a brilliant little place, the steam trains were beautiful and the cost of entry and to ride the trains is amazing value, lovely place to go have a few hours looking at and riding on the trains nice shaded area for the little one to run around or have a picnic. Also have a nice little shop on site
