The Royal Hotel
A group of us visited the Royal for a Sunday carvery and I’d say it’s the best carvery I’ve ever had! The carvery was excellent with lovely beef, pork,turkey, little honey sausages and a superb selection of perfectly cooked vegetables.The desserts deserves a special mention too , all served from a beautiful display fresh to your plate in front of you :) I had the banoffee pie which was delicious.I’m sorry there’s no photos I was too busy enjoying the food.

Lovely traditional hotel. The ground floor reception, bar and restaurant areas are modern with a traditional style. The rooms are large but very 80's.Nice to have free parking but this can become busy during events.Generally a quiet and relaxed place but can be noisy when hosting weddings. It is worth checking when booking at the weekend.WiFi is good and free.The restaurant/bistro is nice and fairly priced with generous portions.I would stay again.

Really dissappointed for a Brends hotel. Carvery was not good, meat not great and most of veg only part cooked. Booked a bistro table with highchair, shown to a table in palm court and no highchair.Drinks took ages to come, they were too busy.Worst part was trying to pay, requested bill at table told to pay at reception. Stood there, told to pay at bar, spoke to member of staff pointed back to reception. And then finally sent back to the bar. Then tried to overcharge us!Couldn't of got much worse, would not go back.

Enjoyed a wonderful evening meal with the most succulent Mussels I have had for a long time. Despite the menu only indicating a couple of dishes were suitable for Coeliacs, the chef and team were able to make some of the other dishes without gluten. Excellent and not any trouble/difficulty. A nice vibe and atmosphere, complimented with an attentive and polite serving team. Will definitely be back again soon. Make sure you visit!Unable to comment on rooms as only had meal in the Bistro.

Well what a pleasant surprise .I had an overnight stay here and I wasn't disappointed at all. I was welcomed with a friendly member of staff at the reception desk , who took my details and booked me in.The reception area was well presented and nicely decorated, for both Christmas and in general.My room was fantastic and really spacious. The room had all the necessary items, such as tea and coffee and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries and lovely nice clean towels.I ordered breakfast in the morning and again I was met with a friendly member of staff who showed me to my seat and took my order. The food was good, hot and fresh.The price of the room was fantastic value for money and I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area. The hotel also has its own car park.If you like my review please follow as I regularly review.

Could not fault the royal hotel, I stayed here with work and have stayed in many hotels before but there was just something different about this place, room was very large with everything you required, TV didn't work with the channels when I first arrived but they sent someone straight away and it was sorted after dinner (i requested before dinner) . Food was fantastic and so was Beth and her colleague, that much so I tipped £5 because they made me feel so welcoming. Its in a lovely town also that unfortunately I was unable to explore but I will recommend this to anyone travelling for pleasure and have already sent work an email saying I will be more than happy to come back here.Thank you everyone for making my stay one to remember.

We were staying in Bideford and booked here for the Sunday Carvery. I’m not a fan of roast dinners in pubs/restaurants but hands down best roast dinner ever!! Food was amazing, plenty of choice and great service. Would definitely return if l am in the area in future. Payment system needs to be changed but definitely recommend for the carvery

Fantastic relaxing dining experience. Lovely service in a 1st class setting making you feel very welcome. This is a pet friendly restaurant with a causal atmosphere and a stunning menu. My only issue is that it's not local.

Amanda and her team were so accommodating and helpful when my family and I made the blunder of forgetting our bike locks on a family jaunt ending in Bideford. They went out of their way to help us even though we weren't guests at the hotel. Thank you so much! The hotel looks beautifully fitted out and in a superb spot at the end of the historic old bridge and with views across the river of beautiful Bideford.

Our daughter arranged her Wedding here on 10.11.2023, we all had a fantastic time, the rooms were warm and pleasant, the food excellent from our evening meal, breakfast and though to the Wedding breakfast. The staff could not do enough were very attentive and were great !Thank you to all for making it a weekend to treasure and never forget.
