Had a fabulous experience at sushi school led by James and Ollie. Made it informative and but fun. Very friendly staff, eager to help and teach some great new skills. Thank you.

I'd been looking forward to giving Speke Yo! Sushi a whirl for a while now so was pleased when my daughter chose it as a birthday treat. What a disappointment the place turned out to be.It took far too long for us to be seated given that the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived and when we did sit down, the waitress seemed bemused by the fact that we asked for menus. She clearly wanted us to eat something from the conveyor belt to save the chefs and the front of house staff the bother of serving us. It was an hour before the place shut and there was a palpable sense that we were unwelcome late comers.Once we'd chosen our food, we sat waiting for our order to be taken, as is common in restaurants the world over. The two 'waiting staff' ' were nowhere to be seen however. Luckily we spotted an 'order via our app' QR code sticker that had been hiding under a menu so we ordered via a trusty mobile phone - all the while wondering why we hadn't been asked to order our food in this way. That communication between waiting staff and customers is not a strong point of the Yo Sushi experience was something that was becoming all too clear to us.As far as the food was concerned: the chef cooked it and put it on the counter, presumably expecting the waitress to bring it to our table. Sadly, we'd just seen one of the waitresses vanish into the rear of the restaurant clutching her phone (the other waitress was also MIA) so I went and got the tray of grub myself. How did it taste, I hear you ask. Well…The birthday girl enjoyed the small plates that she ordered, but the miso noodle soups (that most of the party ordered) were very poor. The miso broth was watery and insipid. The veggie gyozo were pleasingly crispy but filled with tasteless green mush, and the noodles were horribly overcooked. On the strength of the dreadful food (I'll say no more about the nonexistent service), Yo Sushi in Speke makes its neighbour, Wagamas feel like it deserves a Michelin star.We will not be returning.Avoid.

Hot food not hot enough, sushi and sashimi food not enough cold and didn’t looks fresh. Maybe because our dining time nearly close of the day

We attended sushi school for our daughter's 12th birthday with a group of friends, some with additional needs. James and Oli were amazing with the children. Very patient and delivered the lesson in an age appropriate way. The children all absolutely loved it. Any children who were unsure about ingredients were offered alternatives and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended birthday activity! Perfect for pre teens!

This is my general view on Yo Sushi, not just this restaurant. I feel like Yo Sushi is overpriced given the portion. I had katsu curry and my partner had the pumpkin katsu curry. We shared a platter Sushi. The dishes were quite small given the price we paid. Overall price was around £31. The staff were nice though and there was a cute robot where you can put your dishes when you're done.

Used to be better when it didn’t have the belt with the food on. Clearly makes the servers work harder, you have to wait longer to pay because they are run off their feet. Couldn’t tell what much was on the belt so ended up having to order off the menu anyways then the servers have another job of bringing the food to you rather than how it used to just come to you on the belt and stop in front of you. Definitely preferred this.

Just wrote to the head office..Booked a table for 7:30pm / 9.00pmArrived at 7:57 and I have been told that we could stay but we had just 3 min for order our food..Now I have left the restaurant but how is possible that in the website I can book a table also for 9pm and opening times is until 9pm and the waitress has asked me basically to leave because is evident that we can’t order in 3 minutes.. (and I have made this booking forMy birthday party and I have told them when I booked this restaurant)I think it was unacceptable and rude.If this restaurant close at 9 you can’t pretend people don’t come at 8:

Went to the soft launch of the newly opened Yo Sushi. Haven't been to one for a long time and so was keen to try it. The 50% discount on food and drink was also a factor. All food and drink is now ordered via an website, scan your QR code and away you go. They've removed the system of food on a belt and you now order specific food direct to your section of the belt. The food arrived promptly and was delicious as I remember. The different sashimi, street food etc are all well made and arrive hot (or cold). The atmosphere isn't the best and the restaurant is quite cold however with all of the last minute additions being added to the restaurant and the camera crews it's probably not a great bellwether. The tables are also pretty cramped. It is still very expensive so definitely a treat only unless you're minted. And the automatic 7.5% service charge is a joke for 90% belt based service. Especially when it's added before you've had any service.
