Kevin “The Stammer Specialist” changed my life and I’m so happy I found him through a simple Google search.I had my initial session with him at his practice where I stayed nearly 4 hours, he assessed my stammering in Order to know how he can help me as we stutterers know, every stuttering is different from one individual to another.After the initial assessment, I had all my sessions through Zoom. It made no difference at all as he’s such a good listener, he understands stutterers very well as he has some family history with it, so he’s not in it just the earn a living, he’s really passionate about it and he wants to make a difference in people’s life.If you are reading this review and are suffering with your stuttering, don’t hesitate a second to contact Kevin, he helped me a lot and he was worth every penny.Reminder: don’t expect magic, if you’re an adult, it’s really hard to get rid of your stammering for good what Kevin will do is teach you techniques to be more fluent, help you understand how stammering works and also help you accepte it.After only 5 sessions with him, I managed to do presentations at work and onducted training with nearly 30 people. So yeah LIFE CHANGING

My daughter is 8 and has stammered on & off with varying periods of fluency since being about 4 years old. She asked me to seek some support for her when she was going through a particularly difficult stage. I initially contracted my GP who advised we’d be looking at approx 15 months wait so decided to look locally (Leeds, West Yorkshire) at what private support we could find. All the speech therapists I contacted seemed to offer the same old service with very little personalisation & very little understanding that my intention wasn’t to “fix” my daughter so instead, we decided to contact Kevin at The Stammer Specialist after reading the details on his website.Kevin was totally on board with my desire to help my daughter accept her stammer & as a result if she becomes more fluent then that would be great too but not essential.On initial contact with Kevin he put my mind at ease instantly & listened to everything I had to say & asked questions to understand everything about my daughter & also her stammer.We agreed that we would travel to London to meet him for my daughters assessment (Approx 2 hours long) & then we would continue any proposed therapy via zoom.On meeting Kevin in person, he was so lovely. He oozes empathy & kindness & he made us all feel welcome, including my youngest daughter who we took with us on the day.Kevin spent the morning with just my daughter (who really enjoyed “just chatting” as she described it) and we agreed that we would have a parent only zoom call with Kevin later that week to discuss the assessment & a potential therapy route.Our parent assessment took approx 4 hours & was so in depth & Kevin shared with us all that was discussed at my daughters assessment with some reassuring details & also some areas that we could support her better.We decided to go ahead with therapy that was 6 weeks of one hour weekly “family sessions” followed by a 6 week consolidation period & then see where we go from there.I cannot begin to explain how many techniques Kevin has introduced us to that have had a real significant impact on my daughters well being (and ours)At times my husband & I have joked to each-other that it’s felt like marriage therapy for us too.Over the past 12 or so weeks my daughters stammer has been up & down but since her initial meeting with Kevin she hasn’t mentioned her stammer once.Her confidence has grown, her attitude towards herself has become more positive & her behaviour around the house has become more pleasant too.I am so grateful to Kevin for all the help & support he has provided & I would never look anywhere else for this kind of support now. If you are in two minds about whether or not to contact The Stammer Specialist, I suggest you do. You definitely wont regret it.

Kevin @ The Stammer Specialist was the best decision we made for our 4 year old son, we searched extensively for a specialist in stammering before we came across Kevin, who has been nothing short of amazing since we met him back in September. Great consultation. Professional and personable

My son was struggling so much with his confidence related to his stammering and we as a family felt overwhelmed and unable to know what to do to help. From the moment my son started his sessions with Kevin, there was a tangible difference in his understanding and confidence. Kevin has such a warm and welcoming manner, is skilled in building rapport quickly with both the young person and the family. Kevin consistently involved the family in all sessions whilst providing my son with 1 2 1 time and empowering my son to make his own supported decisions. We completed the six block sessions and the change in my son is wonderful. My son no longer sees himself as 'different or wrong ' due to his stammering but is now able to factually understand the what's and why's and support himself in lowering potential triggers. As a family the knowledge Kevin has given us to understand the reasons, triggers and most importantly how to help my son is priceless. We cannot thank Kevin enough, will be booking phase 2 of sessions later on in the year and cannot recommend Kevin highly enough. He is truly the best at what he does.
