Sally Bean Couture - Bespoke Wedding Dress Designer

It’s hard to choose where to begin! Sally created the most beautiful bespoke wedding dress for me. It is a work of art. I had a very particular vision for my wedding dress and met with a few designers, but as soon as I met (on zoom!) Sally, I knew she was ‘the one’. I am an artist, and I have previously studied fashion design, so I was not only looking for a beautiful design, but expert craftsmanship and acute attention to detail. Sally is all this and more. To have a true couture gown designed for me was (and is!) a genuine dream come true. Sally’s design aesthetic is reminiscent of haute couture Dior, de la Renta and original Givenchy - at the same time it is completely contemporary and unique. Sally truly cares about each and every dress she creates. My dress was inspired by both Grace Kelly’s and my Grandmother’s wedding dresses. Sally blended the inspirations seamlessly and created complete perfection. She took the importance of the sentimentality behind my dress seriously and incorporated it with the utmost care. Sally took pearls from my Grandmother’s headdress and incorporated them onto my own bespoke headdress, which helped me to feel close to my Grandma on my wedding day. Additionally, Sally embroidered mime and my husband’s initials on my veil and hidden within the lace of the veil were embroidered cat paws, taken from stamps of our cats feet. The lace on my gown and headdress were hand beaded in such exquisite detail that the current photos I have do not do this work justice! With Sally, you will always feel comfortable, confident and your best self. Not once did I feel judged or pressured (unfortunately some friends of mine have felt this way at bridal appointments), and Sally was more than happy to explain and answer any questions - always with kindness and compassion. Fittings were always an exciting and enjoyable process, and I felt so lucky to involved in my dress’ journey from toile to finished garment. I would recommend Sally without hesitation, more over, I feel it was an honour to be her client and for her to design and create my wedding dress. Sally created the most beautiful dress, exactly as I hoped for and more. Her attention to detail, experience and skill is phenomenal. Creating my dress together was a total joy. Sally is a perfectionist and went above and beyond. I couldn't recommend Sally more highly. I have a brand and sell finest Italian home textiles so the materials of my dress were really important - so many 'off the shelf' dresses aren't brilliant in this regard. For example, there were three layers of Italian silk crepe - this was chosen based on the finish and colour we liked best. Sally & I then chose fifteen individual French laces, mostly inspired by the flowers for our day, to incorporate and collage/layer on the dress to create something truly unique. Every aspect was bespoke and decided by us together - there aren't limitations in that respect. Having a business myself I felt strongly about supporting someone who is truly passionate, hard working and fantastic in their field - you will know you will have a great outcome. Sally’s dresses are magical. In my opinion the quality of her work is right up there with the best names in the world like Dior. To create the kinds of dresses she does you have to be an incredibly skilled atelier. The finess is unparalleled and the client experience from start to finish was the best. Sally makes you feel so special with your dress and wants to create something you feel sensational in. She was exact the very first time with the sizing and fit, and it’s the unexpected detail that counts, the quality of the fabrics, the design, and everything in between. Sally doesn’t compromise, she delivers the best and with exceptional customer experience. I will be returning and referring my whole family and my friends. I will always cherish my dress!!

What a wonderful experience! Sally is the loveliest person and just knows what you want. When I told her what elements I liked for my wedding dress I was quite sure there was not a single way to combine them all to look good. But while we talked, Sally drew something and after a while turned the paper to me and asked if that was what I had in mind. I was speechless. I had no idea what I had in mind but when she showed me that drawing I knew that that was it.Her attention to detail is second to none and she made me feel so comfortable all the way through our fitting journey. I loved the hours we spent together working on my dream dress. And in the end the dress felt like a second skin and looked like me. That moment is hard to describe but it felt as if Sally captured my essence in that dress.All the little areas everyone has and don’t like about ourselves were hidden perfectly leaving me look better than ever in my life. This was the best decision I made about our wedding. I would always make the same choice. The extra money you pay for a bespoke couture dress is 100 times worth it!Addition after 3 years: I still have the drawing of my dress in a frame on my shelf in the living room and it makes me happy when I look at it. Also I still don’t regret having treated myself to the dress and the experience - which was a slight fear that this might be the case once the euphoria wore off, but far far far from it!

It was an absolute joy and privilege to have Sally and her team create my wedding dress this year. From our first meeting at her studio in Kew, as a rather overwhelmed and unconfident bride, knew I was in safe hands. Her dresses are exquisite, one of a kind! Sally's attention to detail is unrivalled and she strives for nothing less than perfection from the choice of fabrics that she uses to the design and execution of the dress. I will always cherish the decision to order a couture gown from Sally Bean - it was a no-brainer after having not seen any dresses that were what I knew I wanted! Why does Google only offer a maximum of 5 Stars - Sally definitely deserves way more than that!!!After an 'unfortunate issue' with a different wedding dress designer, I decided to go local and get a dress that is custom made. I was pretty concerned first that I'm just not able to explain all details I have in mind/ that this process is just way too difficult and complicated - but Sally is an absolute mind reader and can somehow exactly see what you want! The whole process was a lot of fun and Sally is a real professional who looks after every small detail to be absolutely perfect. Everyone absolutely loved my dress and I'm so happy to have chosen her to design my dress. I can't thank you enough Sally, you really made my wedding EXTRA special! XCaroline

If you're considering getting a bespoke, luxury, beautifully made wedding dress that doubles up as a piece of art, then look no further. I found Sally after searching for a dressmaker that had the skill to make a dress with a hidden corset, and I'm so so glad she agreed to take me on as her client! Over the ensuing months, Sally helped me to hone my garbled ideas and thoughts into a truly beautiful dress. I had so much fun getting to know her throughout the process, and I really valued her opinions and suggestions. As you can see, the dress came out perfectly - it nipped my waist and accentuated my curves and I am still recieving compliments today (six months later!!). I also had a silk veil and an additional bespoke lace overlay skirt made which is 100% the most beautiful thing I own. Sally created the dress of my dreams! After trying on numerous dresses at wedding boutiques, I decided to go the bespoke route and found Sally after doing some research. Over the course of 9 months, I met with Sally regularly to design my dress. She helped me refine my vision while still allowing me to have all design decisions (although I definitely looked to her for guidance & expertise!). The dress we ultimately created together is more beautiful and special than I could have imagined, and this is all due to Sally’s talent and commitment to her clients. Beyond her ability to create stunning dresses, she is so wonderful to get to know as a friend and makes you feel so comfortable and at home in the appointments.
