Mrs Bells paintings of birds are quite simply the best I have ever seen, anywhere. Most bird artists make their birds look dumpy and heavy. Mrs Bells are not. She captures the impression of movement, like just having settled, or just about to take flight quite brilliantly. Her birds always appear light, lively and delicate. Also, her likenesses are perfect. I bought a few of her paintings a few years ago. The studio she shares with Mr Bell (the marine artist, my wife bought some of his prints) makes a trip to Lincoln all the more worth while. Nobody does birds quite like Mrs Bell.
