This pub has just gone under new ownership and is doing very well. I went here for a meal with my family and all the dishes we had were spot on! Huge portions prepared well with attentive staff. The beer was great. The only negative I have was the coffee is out of one of those capsule machines though.I tip my hat at the barman (the guy that has the worzel gummidge hair cut) very friendly, we'll be back.

very enjoyable meal. plenty of food. love how the vegetables are served separately on the table for you to help yourself with. piping hot food. only criticism would be starter came with no salad garnish which I always enjoy.

Impromptu stay when stranded in Grantham and this was the only place with rooms available for the night.I was made to feel immediately welcome at the end of what was a stressful day.Very quiet and comfortable room and a great breakfast in the morning.Only downside was trying to get a taxi back to Grantham as its out in the sticks.

Poor service, Yorkshire puddings had ice in the middle, sent them back and replaced with the same. Chocolate brownie on the other hand was burnt. Did complain and they didn't see. Interested. Very dissapointed could tell it was under new ownership

Lovely place with delicious food. We stayed overnight and ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast, which were both great. There had been a mix up with our room booking but this was dealt with promptly. Highly recommended for an overnight stay and for food.

Friendly welcome and service. Visited at lunchtime on a Bank Holiday so it was busy but everything in terms of timing of the meal was fine. The portions were generous and everything was freshly cooked. Would definitely recommend -- though the current tenants are leaving in July through retirement so let's hope the new tenants put a similar amount of effort into getting things right.

We have been to The Cholmeley on many occasions but this was the first time we were disappointed. My guest chose the fish and chips and I, the famous Steak Pie. Unfortunately, the batter on the fish was soggy and not at all crisp and rather than the homemade steak pie I was used to, what arrived was a bought in pie. The meat inside was tender but the pastry was disappointing. Our waiter lacked some of the basic skills you come to expect, in fact he was quite cavalier. With so many very good pub/restaurants in the area, it will be a while until we return.

Arrived and had to try very hard to get someone’s attention. Finally shown to table in bar. We had someone sat at the bar listening in to our conversation all night not his fault, he was so close he could have really been sitting at our table. Not offered drinks at table which I would expect with a restaurant booking. Order taken quite a while later. When starters arrived should have been served with bread which was missing, let waiter know. A few minutes later waitresses came to check back, said “we are just waiting for our bread”, she replied “lovely” and walked off! Bread finally arrived when starter cold. Mains were served appx. 20 minutes after starter, were ok but nothing special. With all the great local village pubs to choose from I would not go to The Chomley again, but perhaps we just caught them on a bad night.

Steak night. 2 steaks and a bottle of house wine £40. Great value. Lovely food and good portions too. Friendly staff and good service. Will definitely be going back .The pub in areas could do with a little TLC however this only adds to the rustic setting and location.Didn't look in the rooms but I believe you can stay over. If the breakfast is as good as the evening meal...it would be worth it.
