I had a cataract surgery in October performed by Alex Day. He was very professional and explained the whole process and how and when is the best the surgery to be done. The surgery went really well and I can see like never before. An exceptional process and a transformational outcome.I am a 68 year old that required glasses for the first time 23 years ago. In February 2023 I was advised by my optician that my vision and cataracts would soon impair my independence, for instance driving, and I needed to have cataract operations in both eyes.After some research I decided to have the operation at Moorfields privately with Mr Alex Day. I had a 2 hour consultation with his optometrists and Mr Day in late April. He described the options both for the operation and the lenses. All information was clearly set out in the post consultation documentation which I took away to consider. I opted for the laser, rather than by hand, cataract surgery and for both lenses to be extended depth of focus optimised for distance vision. I am prepared to wear glasses when doing work with small print but wanted glare free night vision for driving. I now, 3 weeks after the second operation, have 6/5 vision(better than 20/20 vision) and can read well without glasses at my computer for 50 hours a week as well as newspapers and magazines in good light. I only need glasses when reading small print such as my iphone in low light. I can read the N5 letters on the eye chart without glasses.While the outcome was transformational it was the process that I found exceptional. Both Mr Day and his PA provided guidance at every step of the way. I had the operations 2 weeks apart and in each case I attended Moorfields Hospital at 07.30 on a Saturday morning and was out of the hospital by 11.30 His PA escorted me to and between each of the theatres. Mr Day provided a reassuring early morning re-briefing and provides encouragement during the 5 minutes of the laser procedure and the 15 minutes of the insertion of the refractive lens. The anaesthetist was equally excellent in that I was conscious throughout the procedure but felt no distress or discomfort

I recently underwent an eye surgery procedure performed Mr Alex Day, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The surgery itself was seamless, and the care and attention I received throughout the process were truly outstanding. My vision and quality of life has improved significantly, and I am immensely grateful to Alex for his help.

I had trans prk done. Mr Day and his team provided excellent care before/during and post surgery. Throughout the last 14 months or so they were very helpful in making sure all my concerns/questions were addressed. Expectations on recovery process was also explained thoroughly so no surprises on my end, currently seeing 6/5 unaided and N4 unaided (better than 20/20), would highly recommend getting your eyes done here. I saw Mr Alex Day at Moorfields Eye hospital for the ICL procedure. At a high prescription and thinner than average corneas I was not suitable for laser surgery. I was given lots of literature to read on this procedure and given the opportunity to ask as many questions as I needed. There was no pressure to go ahead with the surgery and I was given plenty of time to think about it.The procedure went very smoothly, all the staff at Moorfields were so kind and professional. Knowing I was in expert hands I felt totally at ease throughout the whole process. Having had my follow up appointments after the surgery and the next one being in 5 months time, everything has gone perfectly so far, I have better than 20/20 vision. The disruption to work from the appointments were minimal and I was back at work after the first follow up appointment.I would like to thank Mr Day, all the staff at the clinic and Aurelia. This has been life changing for me and my only regret is that I didn't have it sooner.
