Lovely 2 mile (round trip) walk up to the monument from the carpark!Went on what could’ve been the windiest day of the year and it felt actually quite dangerous beside the monument so if you’re not steady on your feet be careful if it’s windy!Apart from that it’s a lovely walk through a couple fields of docile cows, and then a board walk through a bog up to the monument!

Historical monument on a stunning place. First you need to drive, but the last part is to be done on foot but you get a great view instead

A beautiful place to build a tribute to those whom tragically lost their life near this spot for their service in WWI. It is worth the short 15 minute hike from the parking lot to take in this monument and the breathtaking views.

Lucky with the weather and visited on a very calm day. Great location looking out over the Mull toward Kintyre and Ireland.Cliff edges are sharp if you're bringing your dog best keep it on the lead!

Nice place with stunning views, car park near by. Circular path available with part going near the cliffs. Sometimes highland coos block the way and you have to politely ask them to mooove:)

Lovely two mile round-trip hike through a bird sanctuary with fantastic views over Islay. On a clear day you can easily see the Kintyre Peninsula and Northern Ireland. The monument itself is dedicated to the tragic sinking of two US troop ships in WWI.

Absolutely worth the effort to get there. We were pressed for time and were able to drive from Port Ellen, hike to the monument and back in 90 minutes. The views are AMAZING and some highland cows will greet you on the way.

Beautiful, moving display of support for the thousands who died in World War One when a German missile hit an American ship full of troops being transported and another when an American ship crashed into another ship during a storm.

Did the circular walk. Lots of wildflowers in bloom including orchids. Great views of the coast, very isolated. Spectacular place. Monument to American servicemen lost in 2 different incidents off the coast here in 1918.
