Jewish Community of Berkshire

Such a lovely, warm and welcoming community. We are incredibly sad tono longer live in the Reading area and often miss how hospitable its Rabbi, Rebbetzin, their family and other members were towards us - often going above and beyond. Shabbat services and festivals are organised very efficiently; High Holy Day services in particular are carried out beautifully and with a great amount of thought. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I very much enjoyed Jewish life in Berkshire!

A big tall house with rooms by the dozen, close to the middle of the town. Found next door to the Artillery Mews apartment complex on Tilehurst Road. Excellently kept gardens and always a lot of singing and celebration going on from sunrise to sunset.

Since I moved to Reading, almost a decade ago, I've been visiting JCoB for services on occasional basis. What strikes me is the warm welcome from Rabbi Zvi and Rebbetzin Shira and their kids. Friendly congregation, such that I always come back. Very inclusive too.

JCoB is a young, vibrant Jewish community with the only Orthodox Rabbi and cheder in Berkshire. I'm of course somewhat biased as the rabbi's son but we're a genuinely friendly community, have really fun, enjoyable services/events, and look forward to welcoming you to our shul!

Dear Rabbi Zvi and Shira,Thank you for your hospitality over Shabbos last week. I am grateful to you for opening up your home to me. I enjoyed getting to know you both as well as Gavi, Ora, and Shula. You are building something very special in JCoB, and I pray that you are able to grow the community and continue providing Jewish leadership and education to the Reading area.I specifically enjoyed the conversations about Halacha and Jewish traditions. I felt fortunate to have a meaningful Shabbos experience, as well as learn so much from the two of you. It was also to discover I was connecting with a fellow Livnot alumnus.If you ever find yourself in Denver, please be sure to let me know.

A very welcoming community. The rabbinic family are beautifully musical which makes shabbat and festival services a joy. Services are informal and in warm weather are held in their beautiful garden. As the weather gets colder and services move indoors, they are covid safe as the community has invested in HEPA filters. Children love coming and are welcomed and catered for. Kiddushim have a variety of alcoholic drinks, snacks and cake so people stay and chat. Lovely community!
