George Eralil, Neurosurgeon

I recently attended a consultation appointment with Mr Eralil following a diagnosis of a brain tumour. With so many thoughts and questions in my head prior to the appointment, I found Mr Eralil to be very reassuring. He addressed all my questions and concerns, explaining everything clearly, alleying my anxiety over the diagnosis. I found him to be caring and professional with a lovely manner, which made him easy to talk to. He was very thorough in his explanation, and I am very glad that my care will continue under his expertise, and I have total confidence in him.

I met Mr Eralil back in 2017 when he first joined the NHS in Cardiff, and from day one his empathy and compassion have been second to none. I cannot recommend him enough. Mr Eralil still has that human element which a lot of physicians tend to lose. He did not give up on my cause, and helped to stabilise my complex hydrocephalus which I had been suffering from for many years, and also stopped a cerebral bleed at the back of my head .

In February 2021 I began to have facial pain which over time became severe resulting in a diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia. Unfortunately all treatment options offered prior to seeing Mr Eralil had no effect with symptoms becoming unmanageable impacting on my quality of life. On first meeting Mr Eralil he made me feel completely at ease offering reassurance giving me time to explain my symptoms and expectations. Following an examination he was able to confirm my diagnosis. He explained my condition and symptoms in terms that could be easily understood, having a better understanding helped with the decisions around treatment options. All treatments options were discussed with realistic outcomes, what would be involved, risks versus benefits and time frames. Mr Eralil offered his professional opinion with regards to each treatment without bias. At no time did I feel rushed throughout any of my consultations. Given time to consider my options I decided to have microvascular decompression surgery at the university Hospital Wales. Mr Eralil was present to offer reassurance not only to me but my family throughtout the whole process from pre OP assessment to discharge. Mr Eralil is very patient focused, kind and gently spoken his passion and dedication is comforting. Since my surgery I have been pain free and enjoying having my life back.

I was operated on by Dr Eralil for Trigeminal Neuralgia in November 2020. The operation was a complete success and I am now pain free for the first time in many years. I was very reluctant to have the operation but having spoken to him I was very confident to leave my treatment to him. He was absolutely brilliant from the first consultation. My operation was initially postponed because of Covid but Dr Eralil rang me on a number of occasions to check how I was coping with the pain and he assured me that I would be admitted to hospital at the earliest opportunity. The personal care and attention I received from was A+++

On first meeting Mr Eralil he was gently understanding and reassuring that my condition could be treated. Following an MRI scan to confirm his diagnosis, Mr Eralil carefully talked through my options. We discussed surgery at length, including all possible complications as well as the benefits and I decided to proceed. Mr Eralil and his supporting team carried out the procedure (L4-L5 decompression) at the end of July. My mobility and reduction in pain was quickly apparent and I have continued to improve. I am now able to carry out everyday tasks and enjoy long walks without pain. My quality of life, including mental health have improved immensely. I should also like to mention Mr Eralil’s PA Anna who carried out her duties in a most friendly, approachable and professional manner and I could not have wished for a better partnership to guide me through. Mr Eralil is a talented surgeon who showed great care and compassion both prior and after surgery and I cannot thank the whole team involved enough.

Having being diagnosed with a condition that I had never heard of before I chose to go privately and met with Mr Eralil. Having had an MRI prior to our meeting Mr Eralil was able to discuss with me at length the results, my concerns and possible outcomes. A future pathway was discussed and confirmed and should I have had problems in the future that I need only contact his Secretary and he would get back to me. Whilst I felt cheeky in doing so my pain got the better of me and he was true to his word. Mr Eralil is a very professional, kind and compassionate person who totally understands what patients with TN are going through. I have already recommended Mr Eralil to people suffering with this condition and will continue to recommend in the future.

I consulted Mr Eralil last Autumn for spinal problems. I needed surgery which was performed by him. I am now totally free of pain. Mr Eralil is very reassuring, compassionate and kind. He is totally professional and explained everything very clearly. I had every confidence in him which was wholly justified. If someone needed a consultation, then I would recommend his services to anyone.

When I first met Mr George Eralil I was suffering with considerable nerve pain completely down my right leg. Mr Eralil diagnosed a L4/5 disc prolapse which was confirmed via an MRI scan. It required surgery to resolve which Mr Eralil carried out.Throughout the various phases of diagnosis and treatment Mr Eralil explained every aspect and the options clearly and was very diligent in ensuring I fully understood everything. His diagnosis and treatment was first class and I cannot recommend him highly enough.He has resolved the issue with my continuing nerve pain and made a fundamental difference to my quality of life. This is something Mr Eralil is very modest about, but his knowledge and skill has been truly life changing for me.

Mr Eralil recently cured my husband's Trigeminal neuralgia by performing an MVD Operation at the University Hospital of Wales. The whole procedure from initial consultation to post operative care has been conducted informatively, efficiently, promptly and with the utmost compassion and support.We cannot recommend Mr Eralil and his wonderful PA enough and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for everything.Mr Eralil, together with being an absolute genius, is a really lovely guy.
