Lizdean

My dad was put in to Lizdean on an emergency basis due to my mum suffering a heart attack. He had dementia. Whilst many of the nurses were very caring and helpful. I have since been informed procedures were not followed. My dad was there for 5 weeks and was never registered temporarily with a GP. I was asked to request new prescriptions from my dads previous doctor surgery however I have now learned this is wrong as it was outwith the boundaries of the medical practice.The GP where my father used his whole life would no longer be able to provide care as he was not in their area. Staff at lizdean repeatedly asked me to request Antibiotics from the doctor for my dad when he became very ill however this would never have been issued.Lizdean should have registered my dad with a Temp GP. He was there 5 weeks.He had not slept for 2 days and got a uti and they could not get him help. It took until 7pm that evening for my dad to receive a visit through Adoc and get meds.This need not of happened and caused my dad and our family great distress. He suffered over these days and no one helped him.We moved him thankfully to a more suitable place the next day.I do not want anyone else to go through this as it was horrific.As for the building itself it’s not fit to be a care home. Dark, gloomy in need of a lick of paint. A dreary sitting room downstairs and one upstairs. No lift, just chair to take people upstairs that can’t go themselves. No secure garden. No outings and entertainment is minimal.As for the owners uncaring and cold. They thought it was ok to give my mum a bill in her hand as we all took my dad from this place in tears. Showed no compassion at all. I feel sorry for the staff who worked so hard in there as they were doing their best with what they had, but there is a duty of care when running a care home for vulnerable people and I feel procedures were not followed and my dad suffered unnecessarily.Make sure when loved ones are put in to care you get registered with a GP otherwise it will be Adoc or hospital for any illness.I’m still awaiting a response from Lizdean!
