Vision Express Opticians - Wellington

This was the best and most thorough eye test I have ever had. All the staff were more than helpful and pleasant. I will definitely make them my go to optician, and would highly recommend them.

I came to this store for the first time today, the optometrist was very polite and helpful. The optometrist done a thorough examination and gave me a new prescription.This review lost 2 stars due to the associate. The associate helping me choose frames made me feel small. I felt rushed in choosing a frame, while trying on glasses she said she’d preferred the ones she had me try on. In all fairness, they did look nice on me but I didn’t want to explore because I got reminded the further along I go, the more expensive the glasses are! I also wanted prescription sunglasses for driving as I’d noticed your second pair is 50% off. The associate then told me I could get it so the lenses adapted to the light but stated it’d be £100 for that and if I wanted anti reflection it’d be another £40. I thought it wasn’t worth it so said I’d just leave it to then be told “Everything is money isn’t it? You can always come back once you’ve done your driving lessons and get it done when you can afford it” it’s not that I couldn’t afford it, it’s alot of money to add them on to you’re glasses when you could just have prescription sunglasses which would give you what you need at better value. I felt judged based on my exemption which means I’m eligible for free glasses and prescription but I also work full time as a carer but felt as though I was being treated as a peasant. Don’t just assume someone can’t afford something, I’d of happily of paid for prescription sunglasses which is what I asked for in the first place!

Usually go to Specsavers for sight test and glasses but they are always so busy, so decided to try Vision Express in Wellington instead. What a disappointment. Optician excellent. Dispensing staff hostile and unfriendly, not only in face to face communication but also over the phone and selection of glasses very poor. I have requested my glasses to be posted to me which I have had to pay for as I do not want to visit the store again, and definitely won't be going again. I realise why Specsavers are so busy it's due to their customer service. Two stars are for Optician who was friendly helpfull and explained everything.

Very professional staff and impressed with the service in. However, of far more importance, is that during my appointment a passer-by collapsed in the street with chest pains. After the shop staff were told about him, they immediately took him into the shop and assessed him and whilst calling an ambulance.The ophthalmologist (manager) helped assist with the emergency for a short time before handing over to the optical assistant (and finishing my eye examination) . The optical assistant then spent the next 30 minutes or so reassuring and keeping the passer by awake until the ambulance arrived. Whilst it may not seem much, it is surprising the number of occasions when people and companies will not assist in those in such circumstances. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff in dealing with the emergency, especially the optical assistant who was amazing with how she dealt with the man (she was incredibly caring and helpful to him).Despite this all going on (with full Covid-19 protections in place), the ophthalmologist was very apologetic for the situation and another staff member that was on a break rushed back to the store to assist.I thought that the staff at the Wellington store were very professional and compassionate. I think that vision express should very proud to have such professional staff working for them.

The staff at the Wellington Branch are absolutely fantastic, especially Lottie who is most helpful. I have been in retailing for over 40 years and these ladies are amongst the best I have come across for customer service.

Easy online booking of appointment. Friendly greeting. No waiting before being seen by team. Efficient examination using modern equipment. Clear results explained in simple terms with positive conclusions and clear recommendations. Expected delivery time of 2 weeks quoted but message received next day suggested a delay already in supply. large price range and choice of options for frames and corrective lenses. The team demonstrated a high level of competence in their fields.

Very comprehensive and professional eye test, followed by friendly, personal service in selecting the correct frames. Rachael in the Wellington branch was particularly helpful. Customer service should always be top priority, not targets or trying to upsell me something I don't need.

Absolutely lovely store and quite a refreshing change from the big faceless shops you visit. Awesome staff and fabulous service. Thank you kindly x

Just wanted to say how amazing the staff in the Wellington office were today. Whilst the optician himself was friendly and professional, when Vision Express as a company are up against local opticians whose ancillary staff unsurprisingly tend to offer the more personal service, it is people like Lottie and Esmay in this branch today who really make the difference to your brand with their friendliness and who could not have been more helpful - in particular Lottie who was the one who mostly dealt with me at the pre-appointment stage and then later assisted in choosing frames afterwards. Please look after these two and thank them both - their positive attitude and personality has not gone unnoticed! :)
