Watercolour Workshops Cornwall

We all had an entrancing day; deep-diving into the colour mixing of acrylics, followed by drawing and perspective skills, and culminating in a finished landscape canvas in acrylics- all in one day. Our instructor, Sarah Bell, was friendly and lively, guiding our small group in an immersive experience in her own working studio at the top of the street in Penzance. Absolutely loved the one-day course, and still can't believe I've completed my first landscape that actually looks good! My family were very surprised and impressed.

I have attended two of Sarah's workshops. The four day absolute beginners course which was a great introduction to water colour painting. My second course was the modern botanicals course, Sarah is a great teacher, patient, funny and very talented. She is generous with her time and attention and always makes you feel good about what you produce.You end up feeling confident and ready to keep trying to improve your skills. Sarah's studio is a lovely room to work in and you have everything you need to get painting, great teaching and good company. I would highly recommend Sarah's courses, book one, you won't be disappointed.

I recently attended a One to One tuition course with Sarah on Water colours'. It was very enjoyable, full of understanding, learning and amazing tips ! Sarah is an excellent teacher and took time to help me learn techniques and demonstrated valuable practical help. An excellent course, teacher and facilities ! Just wish it had been longer !

It is the best painting and drawing workshop I have ever attended. Sarah is not only an amazing artist but very pedagogical in passing on knowledge. Being in her beautiful and spacious studio in the centre of Penzance contributed to a 100% good experience. I am already looking forward to a next time in Penzance with Sarah as a tutorial.

Sarah is one of those rare people who is a talented artist with real teaching skills. The sessions are fun, thanks to Sarah’s passion for art and her lovely personality. Most importantly, students are given lots of confidence with tailored skills and techniques.

What a fantastic way to spend the day, I highly recommend Sarah's workshops! Sarah's studio is a treasure trove of inspiration. I hadn't picked up a paint brush for many years, but with Sarah's clear instruction and a lot of laughs I produced a painting that I was proud of! Lots of tips and tricks from mixing paints to composition and techniques for using brushes and how to apply paint. So much in one day that I feel confident that I have the skills now to keep going at home (which I have). I was apprehensive at first, but Sarah was so encouraging and fuelled with plenty of coffee, chocolate biscuits and a lot of laughs I left feeling like 'I got this!'.

Come knowing nothing, or maybe some or all, but do know your watercolour painting experience with Sarah will be life changing! I've attended many art classes over the years, and it's interesting how some really hit the spot while others can fall flat.There is almost a recipe to success, and this can only be achieved with a confident, competent, creative who is passionate about their practice. Sarah is all of those, and her unique style gives a painting class with her a sort of magic as you are guided through your apparatus, your palette and you art implements.I've heard of people coming with various watercolour challenges, all of which she's solved. While for me, someone who has been scared of colour and colour mixing, I left buzzing, exuberant, keen to go home and practice all I had learnt.Class sizes are kept small, so you will absolutely get some one to one time and feedback. The workshop space is bright, light, and airy so you won't feel claustrophobic. Hot drinks and biscuits are available to keep your energy levels up.Why would I recommend a class at Watercolour Workshops to someone is something I hope I've covered in the above, but don't take my word for it! Go and experience one for yourself! Either a group work shop or a private booking. You won't be disapointed.

I had a days one to one watercolour tuition with Sarah as a gift from my husband.I hadn’t painted for years and had never painted in watercolour before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was amazing!Sarah is so warm and welcoming in her beautiful studio and she made me feel very relaxed. I learnt lots of different techniques and am so excited to continue painting at home. She’s an amazing painter and teacher, and I would highly recommend anyone at any level having a days tuition with her.Thank you Sarah!
