Great Central Railway - (Leicester North Station)
Wonderful interactive living museum. Yes it has exciting steam and diesel engines and glorious carriages, with licensed buffet cars, but it also has a fabulous assortment of buildings with interiors to die for spread across four stations.We had a great time and can't wait to go back. Maybe to book one of their stunning-looking 1st Class dining experiences. Booked up until September though!It's also fully accessible.

Great Central Railway - (Leicester North Station)
Amazing place, a favourite with our family. Visited today for a 1940s themed weekend, what a fab day - superb weather, displays of military vehicles and classic cars, a stage with 1940s style performances, lovely food and drink, a re-enactment military camp and a shopping village, plus steam trains running - just perfect. Amazing enterprise run by volunteers that keep history alive.

Great Central Railway - (Leicester North Station)
I came here this week after a gap of about 25 years since my last visit. Staff were enthusiastic and friendly and we saw two steam locomotive on the move. I didn't have enough time to do more than go up and down the line, but was disappointed that I had to pay for a full price ticket which enabled one to hop on and hop off at will.

We had a great day riding on the trains. The staff were all excellent very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of disabled toilets and disabled access is not a problem. I would recommend starting at Leicester North.

Great Central Railway - (Leicester North Station)
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea experience gift, after travelling all day on our wonderful local heritage railway. Service was excellent, and the scones were the nicest I have eaten in a long while!The extra cost of the afternoon tea on top of the day runaround ticket price is less than the cost of many afternoon tea prices in the area, so good value. No wonder it is booked up for months in advance. Thank you GCR

A great day out riding on the steam engines and I can highly recommend visiting here.They have a number of stations that you can join the train at along with a variety of special events on and they run trains midweek during the school holidays
