Style and Joy Events

We hired Style and Joy, Sandie Chivers, for essential items for our wedding on 17 Sept 21 (tables, chairs, vintage crockery, glasses, cutlery, decor, etc) and to style/set up our wedding venue. We signed the contract for the hire goods and set up/styling and paid the deposit in 2019.Fast forward to 4 weeks before our wedding we paid the balance in full and since then we had nothing but problems. We heard of issues from another wedding at our venue and got in touch with Sandie to seek reassurances. I spent the following 4 weeks trying to speak with her and get a response to our concerns. We were even forced to go to a wedding fair that she was going to be at to try and talk to her as all our calls, voicemails and emails were going unanswered.Eventually getting a response from Sandie I was told that they had all of our items hired as per our contract and that they would set up two days before our wedding as I was concerned there would be issues.The night before set up I received an email to say that they did not have all of the vintage crockery and cutlery that we ordered. Despite this being on our original order from 2019 they blamed it on recent shipping/transport delays and had clearly lied in previous emails where Sandie had confirmed they had all of our items. It also stated Sandie was unwell and they ‘were hoping she’d be back tomorrow’.On the morning of the set up I received an email at 8am to say Sandie would be there today despite being unwell. A staff member, Stuart, dropped off some of the larger items in the morning and stated that Sandie would be along at 2pm with the remainder of our items and to set up.2pm came and went and Sandie hadn’t arrived. I tried numerous ways to contact her, eventually only getting a response through Facebook messenger stating she was in hospital and I was to speak to Stuart. I’d had no communication to say Sandie wasn’t coming or what the plan would be with her being ill to ensure our items were delivered and contract terms met.I called Stuart and he had no idea Sandie was in hospital and he wasn’t able to bring any of the items to the venue. At this point I was very concerned we wouldn’t be getting the items we desperately needed to host our wedding! I spent the rest of the day desperately trying to get things needed. Since our date I’ve heard that many other couples have been told that she was in hospital when she should be at their venue so I’m unsure whether Sandie was telling the truth.I was left trying to sort out getting our items and someone to bring them over rather than Sandie sorting her own staff.In messages Sandie confirmed she didn’t have the full number of plates and cutlery we required and didn’t have any of the glassware we’d hired, so had therefore lied.Stuart came past midday the day before our wedding with some of the remaining items and spent the whole afternoon putting together cake stands as these arrived dismantled. Another member of staff eventually came about 3pm meaning we were left to completely set up and style the venue which we’d hired and paid Sandie’s company to do. I was 8 months pregnant and was forced to move tables and chairs and other items around because her company failed to turn up. My husband also had to do a 3 hour trip to collect items she failed to provide.There was over £250 worth of items not provided, and we also requested 50% for £300 worth of items that were severely bad quality.Since then only emails/contact we’ve had has been a long line of excuses. No refund of any money despite admitting fault and most upsetting, not even mention of an apology.

Avoid this company and there joint company Style & Joy Bridal And Suit Boutique! There has been a lot of bad reviews and negativeity involved with these company's.Anything Sandie is involved with avoid at all costs! She has completely ruined our wedding day and many other Brides and Grooms special days!She fails to provide contracted agreements and will leave you in the dark with many excuses blaming everyone else including her so called staff and people she's involved with.Takes your hard earned cash, does a sub standered job and disappears without a trace!! About time you take responsibility for your actions.Avoid avoid avoid.

Avoid at all costs. Almost completely ruined our wedding. Signed a contract years in advance, paid in full and were promised custom tables and benches. Arrived 5 hours late with broken tables and half the seating promised. Sandie was argumentative, unapologetic and not willing to compensate us for her catastrophic mistakes. Cannot fault her staff though, despite being shouted at by their boss they remained calm and helpful. Sandie still hasn't been in contact to check how are day went despite promising she'd be in contact. Hugely disappointing.

Absolutely appalled by the service provided by Style and Joy.Arriving 6 hours late on the day before our wedding is not just awful, but also rude and massively disrespectful. Then to give us excuse after excuse as to why things were missing from the delivery, turned into an aggressive discussion where the word 'sorry' was never once used was absolutely disgusting!I would 100% NOT recommend Style and Joy to anyone and their lack of empathy, respect or human kindness was beyond anything I have ever experienced.

Terrible experience, We would not recommend style and joy to anyone. They turned up 6 hours late to deliver 13 tables and 100 chairs and only turned up with 10 tables and 7 chairs which meant on the day before our wedding we had to hire more tables and chairs from a different supplier. Sandie is a very difficult person to get in contact with when you start to have issues.

Absolutely terrible. We didn't even see sandie at our wedding in August 2021. She skirted our messages and calls all day until eventually getting in contact with my husband via phone call late on our wedding night. We had arranged staff to serve and clear away. Sat down at 4pm and her staff came over after my husbands speech at 5pm to tell us they were leaving as they had only been paid until 5. My wedding party had to clear away and serve the dessert course. We were left with no hog roast for our reception and no idea what was going on as we couldn't get in contact with anyone. We ended up having our family rally round to source takeaways to feed our guests. A different caterer arrived later and had enough food to feed around 30 people, when we had paid for a full spit for around 100 people. On top of this absolutely stressful experience, we had peach flowers missing from our centrepieces that had been listed in our contract. There were many other issues including set up still being completed at 2pm as we were getting married, even though it had been confirmed it would be completed by 2pm the day prior to our wedding. We have had no joy in receiving any refund, and are only met with excuses for them not responding after our official complaint was made in August (in line with their complaints policy in their T&C's). Now we have been simply been told to take them to court. Not the outcome anyone wants on their wedding day and I can only hope any couples reading this review proceed with caution. We fell into the trap of someone who can talk the talk but unfortunately couldn't deliver on the day, and by then it was too late.

Please avoid Sandie at all costs. Our wedding thrones did not arrive on the day, she said she would refund us but 3 months later and she still hasnt refunded us or replied to any emails or calls, we are still waiting. Not to mention she showed up hours late the day after to take down decorations and I almost got fined by the venue for that. Worst supplier I've had!

Our venue looked amazing!! Style and Joy dressed Binham hall for our wedding and it looked beautiful both inside and out. Nothing was too much trouble! We had the whole room draped with lanterns scattered and fairy lights everywhere. Then outside we had festoon lights! Aaron and Sapphire came to set up, and made sure everything was exactly right! Staying late into the evening. After a short conversation with Sandie I felt like she really understood the look we were trying to achieve. The results were so beautiful! We would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for decorations!!!

Thank you to Sandie and her team for everything you did on our wedding day. Very organised and responsive to our many questions (!) from start to finish - and sensitive to the challenges we had with dates and planning because of Covid! Friendly and approachable - couldn’t believe how quickly they tidied everything up at the end of the night too!!
