The food and service here is incredible, the staff are very kind and friendly, and the food is very well presented and delicious. Only nit-pick would be that the beer garden could use some serious TLC, fabric sofas probably isn't the best choice of material for outdoors as they looked a little worn and mouldy, and there seems to be an array of random furniture, packaging and other items scattered around. However the indoor area is very clean and well organized.

Had food here a few times, always delicious. Yesterday tried one of the chef's specials; jerk style dish with salmon. Very generous portion and tasty.....would recommend the food here!

We didn’t realise the Red had started a Sunday carvery until we walked past this lunchtime. We thought we’d give a try, and we were so glad we did! We had a choice of roasts and the vegetables were perfectly cooked… roast potatoes, red cabbage, peas, carrots, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips and topped off with a Yorkshire pudding and homemade, rich gravy. It was all delicious.We didn’t have a dessert as we were too full but we saw one being brought out which looked very good.Will definitely be returning…

Raj is incredibly friendly and makes you feel welcome and at home, even if you've never been before, and the food is incredible too! 11/10 thanks for making my dinner and experience so enjoyable! :) Couldn't recommend this place enough!!

If you find yourself in Machynlleth I recommend you visit the Red Lion for a meal. I called in for a meal and I'm glad I did. Mine Host was the friendliest Landlord I've met in a very long time. The place itself is like a proper old pub but spotless. There is a garden to the rear but I stayed inside.I ordered Buttered Chicken with Rice, Poppadom, Naan Bread and Mango Chutney. Coffee was the drink of choice and it was brought to my table while I waited for the chef to work his magic. It didn't take long and it was very well presented. When it arrived it tasted absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely return to try the Chicken Katsu next time I am in the area.

Lovely little pub! Popped in for some lunch which was lovely. The bar man (who we assumed was the owner?) was really friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. It is also a dog friendly pub, our doggie enjoyed his treats and water! Would definitely recommend and visit again if back in the area! Thank you so much!

Nice Butter Chicken well presented with salad including pea shoots. Came with papadom and nan. Our host was very welcoming and pleasant. I basically liked the place, the only downside was the garden which looks like a tip. I hope it improves.

Went for dinner here recently. Food was delicious. My friend had seabass and said was best she'd had and I had delicious pork ribs which were so tender. Also the staff were wonderful and friendly

We would like to thank Raj for his service and warm welcome, he was very friendly and kept making sure we were comfortable and making sure we were getting what we needed. Joel, the chef just want to say you are doing a brilliant 7 Star job in his food presentation and taste. First time coming to The Red Lion and the service and food was beyond expectation.Will definitely be visiting again in future!Thank you!!
