I came to blue heaven one evening for dinner and it was a great experience. The menu is great and catered for everyone’s taste, it was very good food and left everyone satisfied. The service was also amazing , Emily helped by answering any questions we had and made us feel welcome. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

We saw this restaurant on Facebook and it looked worth a visit. Called in for lunch and ordered two Mixed Shawarmas with chips and salad. The chicken and chips were lovely but the lamb was disappointing, it was quite tough and chewy. The salad consisted of a few leaves, a cherry tomato, some slices of onion and a slice of cucumber. Nothing the like the photos of the plated meals in the Blue Heaven adverts. The two staff members were friendly and helpful. I don't think we will be visiting again.

I noticed this restaurant while walking through town and decided to give it a chance.I’m so happy I did!Love the food, the servings were so big my friend was unsure if I’d finished. We ordered the mixed shawarma, crispy calamari, grilled chicken with a garlic bread side with a chocolate brownie for dessert. We enjoyed everything and I was upset I didn’t have enough room to fit more! The service was great, friendly and very personable. Had a little laugh and didn’t feel imposed upon, perfect timing. For what it was it wasn’t too much money and the atmosphere felt great. It was pretty quiet but as it’s just opened we dread to think of it getting busy because we loved it so much! But I do hope more people pick up on this place and give it a try like we did xI’ll deffo be taking more people and recommend to friends xP.S.We booked the table and they added a little reserved sign, it was so cute and never had that happen before. My friend and I loved the touch haha x

Tiny portions of flavour lacking food. Third rate salad (lettuce with one cherry tomato that was well over ripe). Very dubious tough chicken that had never seen a charcoal grill and staff that couldn’t pronounce the names of the food.Very poor. Avoid

What can I say about this place except all aspects were absolutely five stars. The food was lovely and so flavoursome. I only went for the olives and bread for starter but it was very tasty and the bread was a delight, with the olives really good quality.Went for the mixed shwarma for the mains with both rice and naan, to try out the widest range of flavours. The meats were to die for, the rice and naan were very tasty and fragrant. And the portions size was more than enough for me!But apart from the wonderful food, the start are a delight making everyone feel really at home and welcome. Can't comment on the cocktails as a teatottaler but other people seemed to be enjoying them.

Should be renamed Blue Hell. My wife and I thought it looked a lovely place to eat as we were walking past on Sunday afternoon. We were seated in the window and the restaurant was nicely decorated. It was very quiet, there were only 2 tables taken, a group of 4 and 1 person on their own. The waitress took out drinks order. Unfortunately she was clueless when we ask for a cava. Not a problem, we ordered prosecco instead. Food order was taken and the wait began. We waited and waited and waited. Only 5 other diners what was the problem? It took an hour to arrive. What a disappointment the chicken shawarma was tasteless, just a pile of shredded chicken and a table spoon full of salad. The mixed grill was sadly inedible. The beef was so tough I couldn't cut it. I sent it back. They offered to make something else but why would we when they couldn't get it right the 1st time? We asked for a reduced bill instead which they did immediately. We left never to go back. Authentic it is not, re-heated food is their speciality. There are too many nice places to eat in York, don't go there. To the management, if you take your eye off the ball for 5 minutes in this industry you are going to be history.

£69.40 of disappointment. The Christmas Market was on in York this meant everywhere was busy. We were just wanting something to eat before a drinking session. We ordered two Lamb shawarma and four Long Island cocktails. What we actually received was a long wait then two plates of grizzle, soggy chips and disappointment. The cocktails were a brown liquid that tasted vaguely of alcohol. All very subpar. Both plates left the table half full and the brown liquid remained mostly in the glasses. When we paid the bill it was mentioned to the server the meals weren’t great, but didn’t get any response following the feedback. Will not be going back and don’t recommend anyone to visit.

went to try this new restaurant in town. the waitress was really attentive and was happy to oblige to my partners request when asked not to be seat next to the window (just a personal preference for us). when ordering food i asked for a little more time and unlike some places they came and checked back once they saw that my menu was closed rather than leaving me waiting forever. the mixed shawarma was fantastic plenty of flavour to both the chicken and the lamb. the cheesy garlic bread was also the perfect extra side. paid just shy of £40 for 2 wonderful meals, a shared side and 2 non alcoholic drinks which for and independently owned restaurant in the city centre i can definitely say ill be back sooner rather than later.
