We stayed at the Footman's Cottage - Although comfortable and well equipped, we were disappointed by the less than thorough cleaning of the house and the neglect of the sitting area directly adjacent to it. The lack of welcome pack (e.g milk etc), was disappointing and, in our experience, unusual, particularly given the price paid and the fact that there are no shops close by. Although the photos are accurate they don't convey how dark the house is. There are no views from this property.

Brilliant stay in Northumberland countryside. Cant recommend this hidden gem enough!! We stayed in August with family and its perfect for getting together and spending quality time with family or friends, Beautiful grounds, personal service and the accommodation was spotless. Thanks so much for a memorable stay !!

Had a week away in the Grooms cottage to celebrate a 60th and see the sights in the area. It was lovely. The accommodation was as per the pictures and had no complaints. The grounds are great for dog walking and there is a lake to walk around within walking distance. We took advantage of Tesco delivery rather than driving to the shops. Would recommend this estate as a great location for visiting the sights. Even had a dip in the sea at Bamburgh. Thanks to all the staff for making it a good place to stay with a dog.

Pros: Stunning location and beautiful property. The modern function hall alongside the historic building is a good place for a wedding reception.Cons: there must have obviously been an oversight with the housekeeping. The cottage we were allocated had not been cleaned properly and not properly maintained. The dishwasher was filled with unwashed dishes and one of the toilet flushes was broken.In terms of the food at the wedding reception: It was good, but I would have expected better from a venue of that calibre. As an example, the roast potatoes were not cooked properly.

A beautiful house in wonderful surroundings - it's lovely inside without being so smart that one feels the need to tiptoe around the place. We got 15 people (3 couples, 2 adults & many kids) in perfectly happily after some bedroom wrangling - as it's such an old place, not all the rooms are en-suite but the ones that aren't are a few yards at worst from a bathroom. Everything was clean when we got there and the staff were lovely.If you fancy a day out, there's a Go Ape about 25 mins away and we got to the seaside in Tynemouth in about 45 mins.

Great place for a wedding and overnight stay plenty of room's and cottages and doggy friendly ran like clockwork on day before the wedding really enjoyed the whole experience
