Trout's Boatyard

We have used Trout's for many years and have always received a highly professional and timely service. Most recently we were fortunate enough to purchase a Ring 680 from Trout's. The purchase process was very smooth, and met with our expectations and timescales. Having owned other well-known RIB brands previously, we are pleased to say that the Ring has been our favourite by a long way and is ideal for the River Exe.

Trout's Boatyard have launched and recovered my 23 ft trailer sailer at the beginning and end of the season for nearly 10 years now. They have always provided me with an excellent service and have undertaken glassfibre repairs and arranged for stainless steel fabrication work to be done when I have needed this.The staff are professional and friendly and I would recommend them to anyone wishing to get afloat/ needing work or maintenance completed.

As a singlehanded sailor with only basic practical skills, I have two priorities – safety and reliability. Over the last 7 years Trout’s boatyard have helped me make my 36ft yacht easier to sail singlehanded by adding new deck equipment and electronics, more comfortable with new heating, fridge and hot water and dependable by maintaining the engine and drive gear in top condition, replacing standing rigging and carrying out occasional repairs on this 42 year old boat. The quality of their workmanship means I (and my wife at home!) know the boat will keep me safe and I will get the most enjoyment out of her without worrying about the work done. Mark and the Trouts team have done a fantastic job installing and subsequently servicing our pontoon.

I recently took possession of Wild Goose, a 50ft Admiralty Motor Fishing Vessel (MFV) built in 1944 and fitted with a Foden FD6 Mk1 105hp 6 cyl 2-stroke supercharged Diesel engine. We moved Wild Goose to Topsham Quay in July 2023 and began restoration work - starting in the engine room. Since we arrived in Topsham, Trout's Boatyard have been enormously helpful and accommodating. In particular, Joel, the Senior Engineer has been fantastic in helping us get the Northern Lights diesel generator serviced and fixing a number of issues with the old Foden engine. He really knows his stuff, is a pleasure to work with and is always ready to help solve problems at short notice. Mark, Heidi and Holly have been super helpful, friendly and welcoming. I can't recommend Trout's Boatyard highly enough.

The team at Trouts have always looked after my boat, my family and myself with great care and attention. The service they offer is ideal for boat storage, both on the water (pontoon or mooring) and off it through the Winter. A Trouts mooring comes with access to the pontoons for loading/unloading kids and belongings which is an absolute godsend! If any mechanical issues occur then the engineers are very knowledgeable and good communicators so you feel confident you're in good hands.
