I took a late November drive across the Peak District, via Snakepass, from Manchester to Sheffield to experience Domo in the cities Kelham Island district.I had high expectations, after reading a nice review by Jay Rayner and I was not disappointed. I enjoy dining solo but sometimes it can be intimidating, especially when a restaurant is rocking and buzzing. The Wednesday night I was at Domo, was one such night, with groups out for office Christmas dinner and a couple of large family groups out for birthdays.I felt at home and was made most welcome by the team. It was like being the solo guy at a nice family party, where everyone makes sure to welcome you into their home. I have never had Sicilian food before, but found the menu reminiscent of Maltese food. I missed family as I sat watching other people with theirs, but the team who looked after me were brilliant and the memories of holiday food with my mum and dad (we loved octopus in Malta) made me feel warm on a bitterly cold night. I highly recommend Domo for somewhere to dine when you find yourself in Sheffield.I enjoyed the following dishes, which were homely and filling, combined with the joy of a family team working a busy service.Bruschette AritzoSauteed procini and mixed mushrooms, chestnuts, truffle and a touch of cream (V) Can be made vegan.Polpo di PapaThe owners Dad’s special recipe of slow cooked octopus in a rich tomato sauce with chilli, garlic and olives served with crusty bread (GF on request).Cannolo SicilianoSicilian tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with ricotta cheese and chocolate chip (v).

Best meal ever we both chose the black charcoal ravioli stuffed with lobster was divine. We shared starters wild mushroom arancini and king prawns both were so tasty, washed down with rose wine. Can’t wait to return.

Amazing quality food, in a really lovely setting. We tried 4 different starters and main courses and they were all 10/10.The local draught IPA was tasty, and the wine really complimented the rich tastes of the food.

Lovely restaurant, great wine. Food was a bit hit and miss, great pizza and fish, but starters were overpriced and described poorly on the menu. Desserts were nice, but pine nuts in tiramisu was not to my taste. Overall, we'd come back as it was a nice experience maybe just couple of wrong choices from the menu.

A really lovely and well decorated space. The menu is super broad and extensive and the staff are really lovely. The vegetarian food was tasty but needed more flavour so I had to add salt (which I never do in restaurants). The desserts were to die for!!

It has a nice open kitchen which is always a welcome touch during service. The carpaccio starter was very generous in size as was the Aubergine pasta dish. They were well-rounded plates of food and of course, flavourful.I would mark the Lemon Sole highly too, it had a beautiful taste and presentation but I felt it was somewhat incomplete and lacking an accompaniment. Just one or two sprigs of leek or samphire would have been perfecto!

Exceptional nice atmosphere for Sheffield city … they defo got the industrial chic decor sorted and the lighting right.Service was efficient and pleasantly Italian staff who make it feel more like you’re in Italy than post industrial Sheffield. The first thing that struck us about the food however was the somewhat complex menu. Many categories of pizza and pasta and other dishes made it feel overwhelming.Prices of pizza seem reasonable. Many other dishes seemed outrageously expensive however… like a steak dish for 37£.We opted for a pizza and fresh fish dish, halibut with sausage and coulis. We were told it doesn’t come with any vegetables or carbs so ordered truffle fries and rocket salad. This made one main cost 27+6+6 whcih is 38£. Plus pizza at 15£.We had house wine which was very nice and excellent service to allow us to try it.The pizza was decent , no complaints !The fish dish was nice too but not exactly incredible for the price. The king prawn tasted old and dry. Kinda offset the fresh fish badly.Biggest disappointment was the sides… the chips tasted of old oil like in a kebab shop and the rocket salad was just a dry bowl of rocket… no olive oils or dressing. The dessert ( pistachio thing ) was overly gloppy and we both felt a bit sick for the rest of the night sadly.Overall a bit mixed. May return for a pizza !

Very nice place. For me.. a little hard to find. You not get a real steak Fiorentina.. its just a standard T-bone steak. All ok. But as many restaurant.. the same mistake.. get sharp knifes. Its not that complicated. But it will approve the quality of your steak 300%.. so please.. get good knifes..

Beautiful restaurant and it smells so good when you walk in! So nicely decorated. Great they have a kids menu!! Photo is of the kids menu. Our pizzas were very nice. Service is fantastic. But, probably no real fault to the restaurant, eating out is SO expensive. £17.50 for a chicken breast with sauce. Ouch. And the fries were called Italian fries" for £4.50 and they're just takeaway fries. Nothing distinguishable about them. If someone else is paying the bill

A mixed review.Amazing atmosphere. Clearly this place is popularBrilliant service. To be honest the food was ok. I ordered a grilled fish dish and the description and the reality (frozen not fresh and overcooked) just didn't match.Maybe a lack of product and the other course were good. I'll try again
