We commissioned Tom to source the timber and produce a dining room table and bench for our new house near Norwich. We started the journey by visiting his workshop in Loddiswell, Devon where we were made to feel most welcome and were able to see, first hand, the standard of his craftmanship and to meet some of his equally skilled colleagues. Tom steered us through the intricacies of the process and at all times provided answers to our questions in a clear and concise manner. We were given ample time and choice to make our final decision and, once we had, Tom began the procurement and manufacture, keeping us appraised throughout. The end result were two pieces of furniture of outstanding quality and design which now grace our dining room. Tom and a colleague delivered and assembled the table personally, which was a round trip of 700 miles. The items almost feel like a part of the family and live and breathe with us.He is the consummate artisan and has an unparalleled calm and pleasing nature. We could not recommend him more highly.

We took delivery this week of our Aversley 180 cm round table in prime oak.We had only seen it on the website but had spoken to Tom on a couple of occasions before placing our order.It has exceeded our expectations. It is an extremely beautiful piece of furniture, made with great skill.We had searched extensively for some time to find what we wanted and had had no success until we stumbled across the Orpago website. Our table has a contemporary feel but is also a classic and timeless piece.It was also rather lovely to have the maker of something that will be very special to us, deliver it himself. Tom drove across to west Wales to make the delivery and it was great to meet him.They took great care to site the table exactly where we wanted it and we received detailed care instructions.So very pleased with the whole experience.

We visited the Orpago workshop in the South Hams and Tom was really helpful in responding to our brief and advising us on our options. We ordered a Whittlewood table and bench which Tom delivered himself within the timeframe he had given us. The furniture looks fantastic. Great service and and a beautiful, hand crafted product which we will prize for years.. We’re delighted with it and can’t recommend Tom highly enough.

We found Orpago by trawling through various furniture makers online and are very pleased that we did. After a brief phone discussion we made a really worthwhile 180 mile round trip to Tom's workshop where our requirements were discussed and decisions were made on the basis of Tom's advice. The visit was crucial, allowing us to see the wood first hand, its grain, colour etc. The table and chairs were delivered in person and all maintenance advice given personally. We are delighted with the finished pieces; the look, the craftmanship and their perfect fit in our kitchen.

Having looked without success at multiple High Street furniture stores for a dining room table, we decided to truly shop local. We met with Tom at his Devon workshop to discuss what we were looking for. He helped us choose a design that matched existing furniture and made some great suggestions based on photos of the space.He delivered and assembled the table personally last week and we are beyond delighted with the quality of the craftsmanship, the grain of the wood and the overall finish. Tom spent time with us explaining the assembly and care. We highly recommend Orpago and will definitely be back for additional pieces.

Tom and his team at Orpago are true professional craftsmen and we cannot recommend them highly enough. Having searched all over for a distinctive but simple table and chairs to complement our new kitchen, we were delighted to find Orpago's lovely website, and treated ourselves to a weekend in Devon and a visit to their workshops. Tom listened carefully to all our ideas and aspirations and has crafted beautiful pieces which have completely surpassed our expectations. Right down to choosing the specific pieces of oak which has the kinds of colour, tone and markings in that we liked and a finish that would be practical for a kitchen as well. Tom took time and care to work through all the fine details of the design with us to make sure it would be suitable, like the depth of the rail and the construction of the extra leaves. We chose two different designs of chair to give ourselves options depending on how may we want to seat at one time. He also adapted the design of the chairs to make two lovely bar-stools as well. Even if you can't make a trip to visit them, the website has a great customisation tool and Tom sent us samples of woods to check the colour and finish, which were very accurate. Tom has been a pleasure to deal with at all times and we are very happy that we took the decision to ask him to produce these for us. We will definitely be back for more at the first possible excuse! Orpago made a custom designed TV cabinet from English pippy oak and ash for us. Tom was very responsive and helpful throughout the planning stage and we now have a cabinet that well exceeds our expectations - it`s beautiful and well worth the inevitable expense incurred in commissioning a bespoke piece.

We recently purchased the Thorncombe table from Orpago. The table is beautifully made from solid oak and the addition of breadboard ends are a lovely feature - it’ll last a lifetime! We also went for the Richmond chairs which are very comfortable. Tom even took the time to deliver the furniture himself!
