Sheffield Gymnastics Academy

First of all, the majority of the positive reviews below are fake reviews, written by staff from the club and therefore violate googles policies and I will therefore be flagging them for inappropriate content. It also doesn't surprise me that the negative reviews have not been acknowledged as this is the way the club generally deal with complaints or enquiries to ignore, be rude and avoid.We have been with this club a little over 2 years and have had nothing but poor experiences. I will start with my most recent and the reason I have had to put in an offical complaint against the owner and head coach Alana Wilkinson and finally have the courage to report the club for safeguarding issues to British Gymnastics for further investigation. Last week after the announcement that we would once again enter a national lockdown I requested a refund of fees of £120 which I have generously continued to pay since March despite the gym not being open for one full month. I already have a large amount of banked hours which we are struggling to use up as I don’t wish my 8 year old to be in gym for any more than the already allocated 12 hours per week. I also explained that having just returned from maternity and my partner being self employed this month I simply couldn’t afford to justify paying once again for services we were not to receiving.The response I received is below;“ Thank you for your email, As stated below, we are no longer offering banked hours, the fees paid in January are now getting transferred over to cover the fees for when the children can return back to the academy. Also any banked hours any children have left will be able to be used either for merchandise, holiday camps and be put towards fees. The Academy is offering no refunds as we are happy to freeze membership and transfer payments over, however if you wish you can contact your bank and claim an indemnity”As advised I claimed an indemnity and was refunded from my bank. Since then I have been made aware that the club owner and head coach has blocked me on social media making this decision feel personal and leaving me shocked and confused. How would I be able to walk my child into class to a person who has done this to me in my personal life? Also this makes me question the stability of this person and their mental state and ability to coach as it’s a very questionable action to target certain customers and clearly make known you have an issue you have not addressed professionally.This isn’t the only issue I have and I have kept quiet about a number of things due to my child having such a love and passion for the sport and having lots of lovely friends.l at the club. A lot of issues have been handled indirectly and poorly and are often posted about then on her personal social media account which makes you feel unwelcome, disrespected and unappreciated.Continued in next review.....

My daughter joined SGA in May and absolutely loves it.The coaches are fantastic and have really welcomed my daughter into their club.She has made lots of new friends and has improved in her skills since joining in May.We are so glad we made the move over to SGA.

Both my daughters attend SGA and love every minute. All of the staff are brilliant and happy to help whenever needed especially Caroline on reception and Alana the head coach. My eldest daughter trained elsewhere previously but has learnt so much more since joing SGA a year ago.

I have had 3 children, boys and girls from the ages of 2 all the way up to 12 who have attended recreation and competition classes over the last 2-3 years and I have to say that the club is fantastic.The facility is 10/10. A clean, safe, friendly environment where children are able to use and work with the high practically new equipment.The coaches and staff are always friendly helpful, well organised and profession. My children loved the coaches and I always felt I could approach them to ask about issues or progress.The programs that are run are well coordinated, really well delivered to a high standard. The club has always helped my children try and achieve the skills they work hard for.The toddler classes are great, they give the little ones the opportunity to learn, discover and have fun with you as parents.The boys classes are delivered by an enthusiastic fun coach and my daughter was in one of the squads and the coaches supported her development that much they have supporters her to a new club to continue her development. For me putting the kids first is important.I would highly recommend SGA because it has everything children need to develop, evolve, enjoy and meet new friends.The club has had its difficulties but has acted in a professional manor whilst continuing to deliver the classes throughout.

Lovely, supportive environment. Has helped build my daughters confidence, listening skills, gymnastic abilities and fills her with pride after every class.

Great gymnastics academy with very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly & welcoming staff.I’ve been going with my daughter since she was 14 weeks old and have never had a bad experience.The set up for baby gymnastics right through to the older badge lessons is always structured and the academy itself has so much equipment to allow gymnasts to reach their maximum potential.The academy is a credit to the owner and staff who work there.

Absolutely amazing gymnastics club I don’t normally write reviews but after reading the bad review I felt compelled to do so! My daughter is in squad and absolutely loves it. She went to another gymnastics gym previously where the norm was to be unable to watch as it is distracting for the children, I know for a fact my daughter would hate having parents watching her all the time and I don’t feel she would want to go as much as she does! The coaches are amazing and professional and always there if you want a word or a progress update. Caroline on reception is a superstar and goes above and beyond when it comes to explaining rules and regulations and all the things that a person with a non gymnastics background needs clarification on in great detail! Overall fabulous club all round!

Very poor experience at this club. I discovered that the standard is a lot lower than at other clubs. There is clearly a lot of favouritism to a select few gymnasts/parents. Parents unable to watch their child and not aware/updated on their child's progression. Was threatened not to use car park. A number of staff rude and very unprofessional.Noticed that a lot of these good/positive reviews are from director, coaches and others with a vested interest in the club.

My daughter had her seventh birthday party here and it was fantastic! Charlene made sure everything ran smoothly and the coaches were brilliant at keeping the kids (from aged 1 to 7) engaged all the time. All the kids said how much they enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend having a party here.

Great place. My daughter loves it. Lots of space and equipment. Very friendly staff/coaches. Car park does get busy due to dance studio and karate studio being on the same site. Would definitely recommend.
