Sussex Diving & Leisure

I recently went on a trip to Cyprus with Sussex Diving and Leisure. Quite apart from being in the magical birthplace of Aphrodite...the diving was really tip top.With Sussex Diving and Leisure, it was well planned, superb fun, and throughout there was a very confidence boosting emphasis on safety and professionalism. The trip was extremely flexible, we could either take all of our own kit, or be provided (really high quality) kit there. I adopted a hybrid approach, taking some and borrowing some. We conducted a great range of dives, from a deep and challenging trip to the MS Zenobia in Larnaca, to the super relaxed and very spiritual Musan underwater museum in Aiya Napa. Although out of season, we had some really first class meals in some very reasonably priced, fun venues.Whilst there, Dave (fabulous instructor) worked with me to improve my air usage and to complete my PADI Advanced.All in all, a really superb trip and I thoroughly recommend this organisation for all your diving instruction and holiday needs.

It isn’t very often that I am able to praise the willingness of any business or service in the way that I am about to praise Sussex Diving.Our little girl has many struggles in life owing to her autism, sensory processing difficulties and anxieties. She loves swimming but can’t deal with a public pool due to all the people. So, when she decided that she wanted to do a diving course to build on her recreational diving experiences from when we went on holiday a couple of years ago, we had no idea how we could support this.We spoke to Dave at Sussex Diving and explained her challenges, rigid thinking, the things that could trigger her anxiety as well as the need to build trust. From the start, he demonstrated a willingness to listen, learn and committed to do the best he could to make this accessible for her. All the things we needed to be in place for her to even consider attending were done, and so that date was set.On arrival, everything that he had committed to do was done. Dave and Claire instantly made my little girl (11) feel at ease, and very gently went through the safety things which she needed to know.The rest of the session was unrushed, paced at her speed and provided an excellent experience that has left her hungry for more. (She especially enjoyed the underwater activities with the Frisbee and toy rocket).Usually, services such as this have a set template for how they are delivered. It was clear that the Dave and Claire have huge experience, not only in diving but also in dealing with people as individuals.Because of their willingness to adapt to our little girl’s needs, this will open up a whole new opportunity for her .This is a story of kindness, understanding and willingness to make this beautiful activity available to everyone, regardless of who a person is.

I had a discover SCUBA session with Dave and Clair. They were both so kind and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to book a course with them to continue my certification. I can't recommend this group enough

Absolutely amazing experience for my 11yr old. He LOVED it!! Beautiful pool, covid safe equipment and fantastic instructor (Dave) to tought in a way that an 11 year old can understand. Thank you. We'll be back.

My family and I took the Discover SCUBA Diving course with Dave Hunneyball and we had an amazing time. Dave was very friendly and an effective instructor. My younger daughter (12) had a harder time with certain activities so his assistant spent 1-on-1 time with her most of the class to ensure she was successful. We all had a great time and plan to sign up for the full PADI open water qualification. We highly recommend!

Passed my dry suit course with Dave at Chepstow at the weekend. Had 2 really good dives. Everyone was really friendly and supportive. Dave teaches in a relaxed fashion which put me at ease, no rushing and without pressure.But I learnt a lot and am looking forward to doing some more diving with Dave and his group.Thanks Dave.

After moving out to Cyprus we were delighted to learn that SDL were planning a trip over to the island to do some PADI open water dives in warmer water.We were not disappointed! We met up with Dave, Sarah and the other divers at the Eastern side of the island and were soon on the water and on our way to a superb day of diving.Now, you know when you are with Dave, that you have one of the best dive buddies around, and this trip was no exception.As usual, Dave had meticulously planned the dives and we were treated to two deep wreck dives in the morning - on the Liberty and the Nemesis, followed by a short drive to the Musan Sculpture Museum where we dived through a display of breathtaking sculptures laid out in an avenue.Despite it being November, the water was still warmer than it is in the UK during the summer months, with exceptional visibility adding to the enjoyment.The next day, dives on the Nemesis were planned: for those that don't know, this wreck has been voted one of the top 10 dives in the world and when you dive it you really begin to appreciate why.Outstanding diving and all thanks to Dave and Sarah at SDL.If you are looking to start diving, are looking for a friendly club or, want the opportunity to get out to Cyprus with them, we would wholeheartedly recommend that you grab the opportunity with both hands.

After a bad experience a few years ago whilst on holiday I was really nervous about learning to dive. I needn’t have worried as Dave and Claire at SDL understood my concerns and were really supportive throughout my training. A big thank you to them both (but especially Claire) for all your efforts to get me through and a big thank you to the support staff in the background too.

Dave and the team took my son and I though the PADI Open Water Diver course this summer.Very accommodating, knowledgeable and safe, they were a pleasure to train with from start to finish.Both son and I passed, completely down to Dave and the team's patience and assistance.Nice people....
