Retina Surgeon

I saw Mr Muqit at short notice with a detached retina after not being able to get treatment at home. He was very reassuring and calm. I had the operation which was successful. I was extremely pleased with my treatment and thankful to him and also the team at the eye hospital following a worrying time.

I have had excellent care. I needed surgery urgently, and this was arranged within a week. Follow up has been meticulous in prescriptions and monitoring; I have been kept informed, and when after discharge I needed to ask questions by telephone the surgeon was able to respond quickly.

After two months of frustration at another private clinic I went to see Mr. Muquit at Moorfields as I knew that something was badly wrong.I was immediately reassured by his caring manner and sure enough he saw that I had a detached retina which needed immediate attention. He in fact offered to operate that same day, but that was impossible for me.So the operation was the following day and he spent as much time as I wanted to ask him questions in the room assigned to me.The operation took 45 minutes and appeared to be successful.What is so important about having such things as this done is the after-care and support.What I really appreciated was the fact that he gave me his phone number so that I could text him with any concerns that I had at any time. I of course found time to do this several times and he always replied very quickly. That gave me confidence that things were going according to plan, plus it gave me comfort that I was not alone in this.I have had several follow-ups and these have all gone well. Mr. Muquit explained everything to my satisfaction and I feel as though I am doing well.I am very happy that it was Mr. Muquit who took charge of me as the operation, which had its complications, was a success and that I still feel as though I am being looked after.

After a routine eye test last week, my optician discovered some retinal holes in my left eye and referred me to Mr Muqit. Although a non-emergency, I was offered an almost immediate appointment. At my initial consultation, Mr Muqit took care to explain his findings and suggested laser surgery two days later. To say I was anxious, is an understatement; I was absolutely terrified. However the team at Moorfields Private Eye clinic are second to none and their professionalism and efficiency reassured me that I was in safe hands. Mr Muqit is not only highly qualified, but calm, gentle and diligent. He took time to explain the process to me; his kind and quiet manner allaying my fears and apprehension. The procedure was conducted with care and precision and was completely and utterly pain free. It was over in less than five minutes. There was no downtime required as the surgery was noninvasive and apart from a few afterimages that disappeared within minutes, I felt fine and wondered why I had worried so much beforehand. I cannot recommend Mr Muqit highly enough. Communication with Sue was top notch too.

I wholeheartedly recommend approaching Mr Muqit if you require epiretinal membrane surgery. My sight has significantly and measurably improved in the 3 months since my operation so I am very grateful to Mr Muqit.

Mr Muqit had done my emergency surgery within hours of diagnosing me. He has been very professional and efficient throughout my treatment. His practice is run extremely well and Sue has been brilliant with communication. Mr Muqit is extremely knowledgeable and a highly competent surgeon. I cannot praise Mr Mahi Muqit at the Moorfields Eye Hospital highly enough for his expertise and professionalism. He has recently repaired a macular hole in my eye – something which was a very scary prospect to me – but he was very reassuring and put me at my ease immediately, both before/during and after the operation. He explained everything very clearly and the after care at Moorfields private clinic has been excellent. I have also to give praise too to Sue, Mr Muqit’s secretary, for her kindness and support throughout this – a great team, thank you.

I had retinal detachment and surgery whilst abroad involving the use of silicone oil. Mr Muqit gave sound advice on the timing of oil removal and the procedure was carried out efficiently and successfully. My vision has much improved and I look forward to Mr Muqit’s continued care as I complete my recovery. He is very professional, knowledgeable and a highly competent surgeon.
