Challas Roast

Myself and Paul got married June 2023 and we were looking for something different to a traditional wedding dinner. We came across Challas roast and it was the first place we decided to try. Once we had our initial tasters we did not even bother trying another company!! The food oh my days .. * chefs kiss* Charl was extremely friendly and communicative from start to finish. There were never any hidden costs and he was very flexible to meet our needs. He gave professional and honest advice throughout and honestly made the whole process so much easier and relaxed. On day of the wedding Charl and his team were exceptional. So helpful and friendly! We opted for the share platter style which all guests commented on how unique and lovely it was. Everyone only had positive things to say and were raving about every dish! (Especially the coleslaw!!) A few people also realised that challas roast was used for their work function a few times and also raved about the hog roast before. They were well chuffed to have challas roast cook for them again!I would 100% recommend Challas roast anytime!Thank you team for being part of our special day!

After catering at our wedding six years ago, we asked Challas to cater a 30th birthday party, because their food is legendary and guests still talk about it! At the birthday, we had the same incredible food and plenty to go around. Charl made the process super simple and easy. Would recommend for any event.

Until you start to smell the meats cooking, you’d hardly know he’s there.Service of the food was as we’d hoped, the meats & salads were delicious and there was plenty of it…no one left hungry!Our guests all loved it and the South African flavours were just a little bit different to our normal offering.I would have no hesitation in recommending Challas Roast.Thank you Charl!

Excellent service and attention to detail! We had Charl and the team cater for our wedding and I can't recommend them enough. We decided to go for a tasting session prior to selecting Challas as our caterer, Charl came to our house late last year and put on a full selection of the menu for us to try. It was all incredible and I have to say narrowing down to what we wanted for the day was not easy! It didn't take us long to ask Challas to come and cater for us and from there, the whole process was so easy. Charl sent us a very detailed quote and in doing so we were able to tease out all the small details that we never would have though of for the day; from how to best serve the starters, to how we were going to run our DIY bar and subsequently remove the empty beer bottles the next day.We opted for the hog roast on the day and the meat was absolutely incredible, it literally fell apart and words can not describe how good the crackling was! All of our guests comment on how delicious the food was.Whether a BBQ, Wedding, Party, or any other event, we would highly recommend Charl and the Challas team for both delicious food and excellent service.

His complete operation blew us away, with even the musicians commenting on the quality of the food in their closing remarks. Charl and the team at Challas Roast catered our wedding in September 2023, which took place in a marquee in my family's field. The South African style they added was a delightful touch.Organising a wedding at home presented us with additional challenges, so having a professional caterer to attend to our needs, consistently check in on the arrangements for the day, and anticipate any logistical issues or ideas we might have overlooked is where Challas Roast truly excelled.The communication and support provided by Charl from the very beginning was exceptional. He was always readily available to answer any questions and diligently documented our discussions to prevent any confusion in the future.On the wedding day, the food was exceptional and precisely what we had envisioned. We aimed for a less formal dining style, and the option of sharing platters of meats and salads was perfect (Charl is very accommodating to your preferred style and needs).There was a small catering tent where the meat was being cooked, located just outside our marquee, allowing guests to see and smell the barbecue. It was a great touch. Many of our guests remarked, and continue to do so, that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding, and we wholeheartedly agree. The spices and flavours were fantastic, and there was an abundance of food to satisfy everyone (with plenty of leftovers for the evening and the day after).I would highly recommend Charl and the Challas Roast team and would not hesitate to use their services again.
