A cracking little museum, the highlight was going in the vulcan bomber, after climbing up into the cockpit, Stephanie gave us a great 10 minute chat about the history of the plane, and all the workings. I would highly recommend going, a £16 family entry fee is well worth it.

What a wonderful day out. I was on holiday in Penrith and wanted a day out. So we went to the Solway Aviation Museum. What a lovely place. The Jet Planes they have are wonderful, and you can climb in some. The staff, you are all volunteer's, are kind informative, helpful. The shop is reasonably priced. Museum fantastic. And my kids loved going into the Mighty Vulcan. Well, it's worth a visit.

Had a short visit here, taking advantage of being open on a Saturday in November and December. Jolly nice staff. Great exhibits. Will return for a further look round the inside exhibitions.

What an awesome museum. The exhibits are fantastic and informative.I absolutely love museums that allow hands on exhibits so sitting in the cockpit of the Canberra was awesome. The Vulcan is stunning and again being allowed inside was a dream come true.Very friendly staff with tons of knowledge.100% recommended.

Took our grandson yesterday as he is mad about planes, his favourite at the moment is the Vulcan bomber which he actually got to sit inside. Excellent value for money, the staff were particularly good, very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely go again.

Excellent place, really enjoyed it, very good value for money, run by enthusiastic volunteers, Had a great guided tour of inside the Vulcan bomber, there are other aircraft you can look in. You can get close to the exhibits, the inside displays were excellent with plenty to see. Really good atmosphere, we loved it. Well done Solway Aviation Musium, highly recommend and good place to take your kids.

Located to the rear of Carlisle City Airport I first visited the museum whilst visiting Cumbria in May 2020. Primarily run by volunteers who do a fantastic job. Such a wonderful little museum with fabulous informative exhibits and displays. A range of aircraft are on display outside including the stunning Vulcan Bomber. I was lucky enough to visit on a day when tours of the Vulcan were being conducted and only our party of three attended. Therfore we had a very personal tour which was fascinating, it gave us a whole new perspective on the Vulcan and it's heroic crew.We were interested to learn about the prisoner of war camps in the area, so followed this up with a visit to Carlisle Cemetery where the German soldiers from this camp that lost their lives are laid to rest. These are looked after by the War Graves Commission.Plenty of free parking available and well signposted from the A689.My visit this September was primarily to see the Red Arrows who were en-route to the Great North Run. They did look spectacular. We popped to the museum afterwards, which was very busy with lots of visitors, for a cuppa and a snack. We sat outside on the picnic benches to make the most of the glorious weather as we watched the afternoon's rain roll in across the Pennines. There isn't a café but the shop has snacks, hot and cold beverages available for purchase.

Excellent little museum run by friendly, knowledgeable volunteers.Good indoor displays and memorabilia plus internal access to many of the outdoor aircraft, particularly the Vulcan, which is a must see.No cafe on site but there's a drinks machine along with some tables in reception and clean, accessible toilet provision.Very good value for money.
