Up-Beat Rock Academy

My son Luca started out playing guitar at the age of 10. He enjoyed his private guitar lessons at home but he didn’t really have a goal, and this can make kids give up. My friend told me about upbeat and Luca hasn’t looked back since. He’s played some amazing venue’s from the Blackpool illuminations switch on at age just 11 with the brilliant Aftershock, to regularly playing as a support act with his band Parrilla at the amazing Waterloo pub Blackpool. Getting Luca to band is never a chore as he loves every minute spent at upbeat, and not just for the music but the friends he’s made for life there. I highly recommend Upbeat and just wish there had been something like this when I was a kid

Ian has created a brilliant space to train and or for bands to rehearse music. Well laid out with numerous playing and rehearsal rooms.

My son and i have been learning the drums at Up Beat Rock Academy with Matt Bamber for over a year now and we absolute love it. The new studios are a very nice modern space to learn an instrument and that coupled with the friendly staff and great atmosphere it gets my vote 100%If your looking for somewhere to play Up-Beat wont let you down!

A great place with great facilities also well run and equipped. Dedicated tutors and good for young and not so young.

I have been a student at UpBeat for 2 years learning vocals and guitar. I have progressed immensely with Ian since I have started. I have not only gained confidence but I have improved my performance skills and technique. Through UpBeat I have had the opportunity to perform at gigs with has enabled me to meet new people and step out of my comfort zone as well as gain experience. The staff at UpBeat are very welcoming and I look forward to my lesson every week.

I can highly recommend this place,we have looked for a long time to find the right teacher for our son in both singing and guitar tuition. We are not disappointed! The teacher is a genuinely nice person and our son loved his first lesson.I have a good feeling about this place!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!Since joining Upbeat over two years ago from me writing this review I can honestly say hand on heart it was the best decision we ever made. These guys are like a family to our son. He has performed with his band( Matty on bass guitar and Naomi on drums and vocals) at different venues,The Cube,The magnificent Waterloo and an open air concert in Blackpool. He has not only flourished but has gone on to write his own songs. His music has guided him through the toughest of times and His teacher Ian has been a great influence. If you are considering bringing your child to lessons here,don't hesitate,it's the best decision you could make too!

My two children both study here and it has been a lifesaver in so many ways. The performance side has lifted their confidence after Covid and one of them has been inspired to pursue music academically/as a career. Most of all, they love it!

I can say unequivocally that my son going to UpBeat was a defining decision for him and has helped give him a direction and drive for his future. UpBeat teaches people how to play music and how to perform together. It also creates confidence in the participants that has so much more benefit than with music. Anyone with kids (or anyone who wants to try music) should have a look! The new facilities are excellent too. I highly recommend.
