Mixed feelings. Large room, great river view, great location and it’s quiet (especially as on main road). But our door was left open after the room was cleaned, we didn’t try the breakfast as it doesn’t start until 07:30 and the room is expensive.

I stayed 3 nights while in Exeter for work, and found the hotel to be superb. The decor was great - contemporary and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. My room was on the ground floor and was huge. It had a sofa, coffee table, superking bed, chairs and side table with Krupps coffee machine which was a nice touch. The bathroom was big too, and very stylish with a double size shower. There's no restaurant but you can eat in the adjoining pub. The only small complaint about that was that the music playing at breakfast time was on the loud side. Maybe I'm just getting old!

You may have seen a recent review I wrote in the above.First of all I must apologise to the staff and management as I inadvertently mistook the Headweir for a previous night stay elsewhere, we had been touring the region over the last week and I got it wrong.Onto the correct review, I woukd fully recommend the headweir. The rooms are of a high standard with ample room, facilities and power points. The decor is finished to a high standard and the bathroom had a fresh contemporary feel.As the rooms are attached to an adjacent pub I can recommend this as a very good place to eat with helpful staff and all covid guidelines followed.Once again I woukd like to apologise to the staff and management for my previous error..

This is a great small hotel - I've stayed with my family for one night here, and we were extremely pleased with all aspects: Our room was well-equipped, cosy and pleasant, the staff was responsive to our requests (like keeping some food refrigirated overnight) and the surroundings were quiet and pleasant. The hotel clearly states on the website that there are works going on to erect a flood barrier - the works weren't on when we were there but the barrier is evident, it does affect the view a bit but the hotel is upfront about it and because they manage expectations well that didn't bother us at all (and to be honest, with the window closed, it's not noticable). The pub connected to the hotel is very convenient for a quick dinner for the weary traveller.

We stayed for one night, en route from Cornwall to London. We had booked a suite (Room 1), which was very spacious with a king plus a double sofa bed - perfect for our family of 4. There was also a large outdoor terrace with a partial river view (although not that private due to guests of the pub being able to access the adjacent garden area). I was quite impressed with the room, which had been newly renovated and was well appointed. The bathroom too was quite nice, with a powerful overhead shower, although oddly no handheld shower. The hotel is not quite in the centre of Exeter, but it does have a nice location on the river, and it is around a 10-15 min (uphill) walk to the town centre. There is a free parking lot dedicated for hotel guests, which is not that common in Exeter. We had breakfast before leaving the next morning and it was quite enjoyable. It is important to note this is a hotel attached to a pub, and there is no reception desk or staff at the hotel itself, neither is there a phone in the room, so for anything you need including check-in/out, you need to walk across to the pub. I knew this beforehand so it was not an issue, but it is something to be aware of. Overall, we really enjoyed our overnight stop here, and I felt for the price I paid, the hotel exceeded expectations.

Just checked in to the room 4 on the ground floor. Decided to pay extra for a river view. Asked for a quiet room. To my astonishment found out that the window that faces the river also faces the pub! People having drinks, laughing and having fun literally...in my room! The pub is located next door which I knew before but was unaware and nowhere to be mentioned that the outside tables are located 10 metres away from the windows of room 4. Defo not recommend if you would like some piece and privacy. There is no ac(which was mentioned in the room description) and the room is very warm so need to keep the window open. Very unhappy and disappointed. Ps the lady at the reception is lovely but hotel is overbooked and nowhere to be moved.

Rooms were very well presented and homely, very modern. The beds were comfy enough and the rooms were a large size. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wanted a nice hotel at a reasonable price within walking distance to most of what Exeter has to offer. The biggest annoyance was the front door on the entrance to the hotel as people kept slamming it as hard as they could to shut it as the lock would catch, minor annoyance but does wake you up at night.

I absolutely loved staying here. The room was gorgeous and comfortable with a lovely little coffee machine and a massive fan to compensate for the hot weather. The staff was one of my favourite things about staying hereThe lady that checked us in was so sweet! Beds were comfy, towels were soft. Literally not a bad thing to say :)

Whilst the rooms are spacious and modern, our suite (the only one of the hotel I believe) was facing a terrace full of gravel and works equipment, clearly ruining the view on the beautiful river. That’s one star lost there.Second lost star has to do with the pub staff, unhelpful and border line rude. We showed up at 11:40 to grab a quick bite before hitting the road — being customers of the hotel where we had JUST spent a night — at that time, the pub was 95% empty. The waiters nonchalantly told us all the tables were booked (some for 1:45 ...) so we had to go sit outside if we wanted to have a drink or eat something! With a chilling 4C outside, this is clearly unacceptable and not a way to treat guest who just spent 100£ with the hotel.Would recommend the hotel for the quality of the rooms but it’s such a waste not to better leverage what could be an amazing value proposition with the pub next door!

Great location for city centre and walkable from train stations, pub was good and room was amazing. Great bed & bedding, smart TV, coffee machine in room and lovely bathroom. Shower was epic. Highly recommended.
