We had the absolute delight to attend the hospice on behalf of our company. A colleague and I had to carry out safety checks and servicing to quite a few riser recliner chairs. The staff were all so good. It is quite hard for us as technicians to be respectful entering private rooms and public areas and turning chairs upside-down. The staff guided us where necessary. The lady on reception was the best ever, she was ace.

What a wonderful peaceful place, with compassionate, kind and considerate staff who made my partner's end of life care, comfortable and pain free as possible. He passed with dignity thanks to all who cared for him

Horbury,s hospice shop must be the dearest shop in Yorkshire. People who are on low income expect to pick up cheap clothing items ,but the prices is ridiculousy high

I was treated horribly by one of your workers today and i'm shocked, i was treated like a 12 year old when i'm going on 16 and kicked out of your store for being an unaccompanied child when i'm very capable of dealing with myself. The woman shouted at me and when i explained i had walked an hour she was rude again and invaded my personal space by standing over me. all i was trying to do was look at the dvds in peace. disgusting service.

Please note, my review relates directly to their recruitment process only and nothing else.I was offered an interview back in July 2022 which I accepted, to then be told two days before said interview that they were no longer recruiting for the position due to lack of interest and that head of retail, Matt Berry, would contact me to arrange a new interview date, needless to say this never happened.Fast forward to 2023, I was interviewed for another position, again by Matt and his colleague Santa. At which I was told I would hear the outcome by the end of that week.A week passed without any contact despite politely emailing Matt and requesting an update.I eventually got a response from HR after numerous attempts at correspondence. If you are looking for retail based employment I would advise you to look elsewhere as I genuinely don't believe the positions they advertise to recruit for are in existence.Very unprofessional and quite frankly, extremely rude.

Started going to the Wednesday drop in back in 2014 when I'd been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer that had quickly spread to my liver andI was waiting for chemotherapy to start. All the time I went the staff were amazing and the treatments relaxing and very helpful.Kept going after successful chemotherapy and 2 major operations but eventually, as I felt I'd beaten the cancer and there were always newly diagnosed people coming along I was using facilities that they needed more than me so gradually dropped off going.Thank you for the sympathetic help given by really genuine and caring people, both employed and voluntary.ADDITIONALSince leaving this review many months ago my whole life has been taken over by the fact that the metastatic bowel and liver cancer has returned but now in my brain. Its incurable and after various procedures and scans at the Gamma Knife Laser Centre in St James's in Leeds I'm waiting to see if theres any way forward. Hopefully there some help through that wonderful team at Wakefield Hospice when they're allowed to reopenI know the Gamma knife people and the Hospice people are professional in their own teams so as looking forward to seeing them as soon as possible coronavirus permitting

General info: parking available, which was free to users at time. Good public transport, about 10 mins from city centre. Not far from Pinderfields hospital (walking distance).About the centre: lovely gardens and rooms, staff are wonderful. Lovely environment, wildlife regularly seen passing (squirrels etc), highly recommended
