PIRATE.COM - Rehearsal & Recording Studios

Had a great experience recently at Pirate Bristol. Booked Studio 9 for an 8 hour session. Got set up quickly and easily. Room has a nice atmosphere too. Sound is great.

Our crew Bloco B have recently moved our weekly practice session to Pirate Studios in the Live/Jam room. It can hold thirty people max and everyone in the band loves the new venue. If you are looking for a good value for money studio in Bristol, definitely check out Pirate Studio - Bloco B

Been rehearsing at Pirate for over a year now and while initially was really impressed with the space it has unfortunately only gotten worse over time.Used to always be able to book a room with two cabs but now it seems it is only possible to get rooms with one cab and a combo, making it not a suitable place for two guitar bands.Of course Pirate fall back on their disclaimer that they can't guarantee what kit will be in the room but this makes it impossible to be able to fully focus on your rehearsal when you have to instead figure out what equipment you have.The other issue is then dealing with the support over WhatsApp, whereas previously if you were missing equipment you could just quickly hop on chat, tell them what you were missing and get a codes to the spares cupboard.However, they now request a video and/or photos of the issues or missing equipment and then take ages to respond all the while this is eating into your rehearsal time that you've spent money on.

Great space to rehearse, practice and record!Attended the open decks night last night and loved it, not only being able to showcase my skills and watch others, but also to connect and network!

Until my last 2 visits, I would've given this 5 stars for vfm. However, I've dropped to 2 stars as the last 2 sessions here have been interrupted by an excessively loud band in one of the rehearsal studios, then most recently, a workman carrying out work (loud banging) directly above the recording studio we were using. No system in place for feedback. If you don't get interruptions, this place can be quite good with occasional staff support on site and a reasonably robust online support using WhatsApp.

As a vinyl dj for over 20 years I had no idea how to use cdjs so I booked a session at pirate Bristol.Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Pirate is so simple to use, 2 door codes and you’re in the studio. Once I figured out the ac controls to warm the studio, I just plugged in a usb to a cdj linked to the other cdj and got straight into it!Will defo be using in the future to hone my cdj skills!

Never had a problem using pirate. Once i had a faulty kettle lead, but they had a spare knocking about in the room. All the equipment is good quality and the rates are competitive. Facilities such as the kitchen could be improved. Toilets are fine.

Really love the studios! It’s a great space to escape for a few hours and spin some banging tracks! Also great for a run through before any live sets. Cost it a-little expensive in some city’s tho, I feel you guys could make it slightly cheaper

My experience here has been really good and not so good. First, the good: it’s a great space for rehearsing. Convenient to reach, good kit, and affordable. And the culture is great - musicians support each other. The not-so-good: with few staff present, some things don’t happen. I left my drumsticks behind after a recent rehearsal. I emailed to explain this. Weeks later, and still no-one has replied...
