We were here for drinks and a dance on a Saturday evening. Wasn't too busy, had live music and dancing all night. Had a great time. Only issues we had was we had reserved a booth and were told that we would have table service, which we weren't aware of and thought it was a nice option, but there was never any visible staff around, it always took too long for anyone to remember we were there, so we would always end up going to the bar ourselves anyway.Nice space, nice ambience, great time had, not too busy for a Saturday night, lots of fun.So only feedback I'd give is if they offer a service we weren't aware of in the first place, then they have to be on it, for it to work. That would have definitely been a 5*Despite this, I would highly recommend for a night out.

Me and my partner stayed for the weekend and it was great service as soon as we walked in. The location is close to everything you need in Bournemouth, the only thing I would say is if you don’t like loud music, at the weekend they have the clubs downstairs open and if you wished for a quiet night in, you won’t get it here! Honestly didn’t bother us anyways but in case it does, best to check first at their rules which they do mention! Such a clean room too really spotless!

It’s an interesting hotel with a history. Given the background, the facilities are reasonably alright. Certain parts felt and smelt like a museum which I actually enjoyed. Service is also quite good both at reception and for breakfast. Location is very good with only a shot walk to the beach. That being said, this is the first and the only hotel amongst all that I have stayed anywhere in the world where I actually used earplugs, and where I actually could’t get to sleep at all. The nightclub(s?) are hellish. Despite we ordered a room to be less affected by the noise as possible, the noise was still way beyond bearable. Therefore I am afraid to recommend: AVOID AT ALL COSTS for the weekend when they run the nightclub. The owner could have a perfectly fine hotel, or a perfectly fine nightclub, but the co-existence created a ridiculous result. What was it? Greed, or simply stupidity?

Very loud during the nights, not so much the music but people who are drunk and talk too loudly in the corridor. You can here every word from your room. Horrible breakfast (rancid oil?) and communication issues with the waitresses. Great location and receptionists.

Lovely hotel. Very nice staff. Only reason I have the location a 4 star was that the music from the nightclub can be heard from the room until around 3am (on the Friday night) caused us disrupted sleep but would still visit again.

You know what? I'm going to recommend this place! Sure, it's run down and tired but what large seaside hotel that hasn't sold out it's soul to a Chinese or Middle Eastern venture capital company isn't?Brilliant location and friendly staff will ensure your Victorian period stay will be an experience.

Great hotel, was a bit concerned about the noise from the nightclub (I stayed on a Saturday night). But it was a dull buzz and didn't keep me up.Great staff and a fantastic breakfast. Really good location. I'd happily stay there again.

Not possible to give this hotel more than two stars. If it wasn’t for the really lovely and helpful staff I would rate it one star.Let’s deal with the noise issue. Having a nightclub and a bar on the ground floor means there’s no escaping the noise - until the early hours of the morning. Knowing this beforehand does not make it any easier to cope with. Other than closing these venues, there isn’t much that can be done about it.However, the things that are completely controllable need urgent attention. The hotel has a very musty, mouldy smell, and that goes for the rooms too. Very, very tired looking with outdated decor and battered furniture. Window in the room doesn’t stay open to let in fresh air and isn’t doubled glazed to keep out the noise. On arrival there was vomit in the plant pot next to the main entrance, and there were buckets collect water from the leaks on the stairs.Breakfast is expensive for what you get.Overall, an extremely poor experience and not value for money. In fact, it’s pretty expensive given the state of the property and rooms.I would not recommend staying here.

Review of Royal Exeter Hotel:My recent stay at the Royal Exeter Hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. It was the first time in my life that I encountered such a terrible and unsafe hotel experience. Our troubles began upon our arrival on a Saturday when we discovered that the room initially reserved for us was already occupied by someone else. The process of arranging new accommodations and moving to a different room was painfully slow and inconvenient. To make matters worse, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired.Despite our exhaustion from a long journey, we refrained from complaining about these initial setbacks. However, our evening took a terrifying turn when a violent altercation erupted in the nightclub adjacent to the hotel. The ensuing fight resulted in the shattering of hotel windows, sending glass shards flying dangerously close to us. My wife was understandably horrified and left in tears. When we attempted to address this alarming situation, the hotel's security guards responded with rudeness and intimidation, leaving us feeling even more unsafe. To our dismay, when we sought assistance from the hotel night manager, we were informed that he was nowhere to be found on the premises, leaving us to deal with our distress on our own.Our stay ended on an equally disappointing note, with the hotel staff offering nothing more than a cursory apology before ushering us out the door the next day.In light of our harrowing experience, I strongly caution anyone considering a stay at the Royal Exeter Hotel to think twice. It is my sincere hope that no one else has to endure a similarly dreadful ordeal while staying at this establishment.I implore the hotel management to take immediate steps to address these serious issues and ensure the safety and comfort of their guests in the future.
