Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre in Sheffield is the 2nd biggest spinal hospital in the UK. It has some of the most talented Nuro, Compex, spinal, surgeon's in the world with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team and all the support that a place like this needs.Parking at the moment is free with disability parking strategically placed. The rehabilitation centre is a place to be seen. Everything a patient would need is under one roof.A hydrotherapy pool, a sports hall that is actually used by the Sheffield Steelers and a host of other facilities. There is even an in-house flat for patient to get use to living in.This place is the best.

I am the wife a of a patient, my husband was sent to this unit from Norwich. I agree that the staff are very caring and do a really good job. My problem is that there are no facilities on site, so after a long drive you can’t even get a cup of tea there is a vending machine but it’s always out of order. Any facilities they did have are all closed down. Part of Rehabilitation is to be in a place that empowers you to do things but there’s nothing to do here. It’s a very depressing place. Don’t bother to read the brochure that you are given because you will be disappointed as it offers so much, but you get very little.

The staff at this hospital in the spinal unit are beyond wonderful,10 years ago my son feel 60 feet stanage edge while rock climbing. Not only did they save his life, but there support too him and us his family was beyond measure, muy son was with them for 6 months, we live in Scotland they were wonderful to us as well, we were able to have a room with them so we could be close to our son. The NHS does not come better than here, muy soon is a paraplegic now BUT HE IS WITH US THANKS TO THIS UNIT,Just a shame no-one seems to be able to help him with the nerve pain he still has every day so hard to see the pain and nothing I can't do. HELP PLEASE
