What a disappointment!Our first of three trial sessions, will be the last!We travelled down the motorway and got there early as my son was raring to go, really looking forward to it. The coaches seemed nice but no introduction to the other players and my son was wondering around for 5 mins with no idea what to do, didn’t know anyone and not enough balls for all of them.They did no warm up! These are supposed to be academy athletes!?The drills were basic activities with next to no coaching input. There was no matching bibs, the area for the age group was half an Astro which is way smaller than the 9 a side pitch this age group play on.There was 12 kids there altogether, which the coach had no respect from in the 10/11 year old age group, the kids were shouting and messing around, pushing in and cheating on drills. I know boys mess about but this was worse than school playground football!The match play at the end had no structure, they were just running around and belting the ball from one end to the other (width of Astro)This is at best a local club who trains far too late, no information readily available for matches and structure, with a fancy name. I don’t think players will come with the ‘welcome’ they get from the other players or coaches effort to integrate them. I’m glad we “trialled” but unfortunately we don’t think it’s good enough and my son was gutted to come away from, in his words “the worst football session ever”Luckily he didn’t hear the effing and blinding of the blokes who were next on to use the pitch who walked in during the session, not safe, no control and waste of time!I’m sorry to write such a poor review but my hardworking 11 year old boy who wants to progress was completely deflated and gutted about how poor this “opportunity” turned out to be.
