Lovely kids play park with disabled access equipment, outdoor gym, basketball net and football goal. Nast Hyde halt Station has been lovingly and very well maintained as a tribute to the station that stood at this location when the alban way was a working railway line

Beautifully decorated railway platform. Plants, old notices, railway furniture and amusing nick-nacks make this a lovely feature of the Alban Way foot/cycle path. Congratulations to all those involved, especially the initiator, Mike.

Nast Hyde Halt is a fascinating place. Not a lot of people know, is that all of what you see has been, made, created and everything else by just one person! Mike, is the man that some people see on their way along the cycle path and wave to him while he merrily works, unsupervised every day. He has a full time job as well. Sunday is his longest day there, but every afternoon after work he calls in to do as many hours that he can fit in. Mike is a really lovely genuine man, doing something that many others would not think about doing. It began after Mike's inquisitive mind cut back the ivy over hanging the platform!!! I understand that he and everybody else did not know that the platform or anything ever existed there. So, the next time you pass through, give Mike a wave and have a chat to him, give him praise for what he has done and what is doing and for what he plans to do next!!!

Love this place. It's right at the start of the walking/cycling path called Alban Way (from the Hatfield side), which connects Hatfield and St Albans.Nast Hyde Halt is an old disused Railway line, with the stop called Nast Hyde Halt part of the old line connecting Hatfield and St Albans I believe, and it was a stop used to bring supplies to Great Nast Hyde House.Nast Hyde Halt has been lovingly restored over a period of a few years by a local Postman called Mike Izzard and several other volunteers. They have done an amazing job and it is well worth a visit, especially if you have young kids, my young daughter loves it. There is also a local playground right opposite with a play wooden train for kids to play on.The old platform has been well restored and even today is kept in a very good condition. There are old signs etc put up on the platform to give that nostalgic feel. Even along the Alban Way, several signs are placed with signs such as Beware Of Ghost Trains"All in all Nast Hyde Halt is well worth a visit

If you do the Alban Way in either direction, this beautifully restored station is an absolute treat to see.I dare say that it’s probably prettier than it was when it was in use, but Station Master Mike and his team of volunteers have done an amazing job. From vintage posters, a book, a YouTube film about the ghost train and a very peaceful wind chime it makes the station a true destination.Look out for the ghost station warning signs coming from St Albans and the Station Masters house nearby.Absolutely worth it, definitely make sure you visit if you enjoy history, walks, railway memorabilia or ghosts.
