An amazing experience that I’ll remember forever - Reviews of Alison Ash on The Doula Directory | Alison was amazing! She was a calm confident person to have in the delivery room. She gave me encouragement to keep going when I was tired, telling me I was close to delivering my baby. This is something I found missing from the midwife, I just didn’t know if I was going to be having such strong contractions all night. Alison gave me the confidence I would have my baby soon. I was asking for pain medication as I was tiring and Alison made me realise I could do it! Alison held Izzy for me while I showered and dressed her for me. She stayed all night with us in the delivery room and made sure we got to the ward in the morning. Being without a partner I felt so confident about the whole experience with Alison there. Once we got to the ward where she wasn't allowed as it was 6.30am I was happy everything went well, Izzy was dressed, I'd had a shower and so much marmite on toast! Thank you so much Alison it was an amazing experience that I’ll remember forever

Alison was a fantastic support both before and after the birth of my second child. After my first birth I was so keen to have a more positive birth experience and she helped to give me loads of tips and techniques to help me feel prepared. On the day she was a calm and steady constant always advocating for me and keeping constant dialogue with the midwives. In those those crucial first hours she was there to help me with baby and to do those important first steps after what was the speediest birth I had ever imagined. Thank you Alison for helping this birth to go so incredibly smoothly and fast with absolutely no pain relief after an epidural first time round!

Alison gave me great support through my difficult labour, encouraged me and empowered me. She has been kind and respectful and a great help to communicate to the hospital staff and to understand how things were unfolding and which choices I had and why. Her presence has been extremely helpful and reassuring and definitely helped me to have a positive labour and birth experience, where things have been challenging and didn’t go the way I hoped for. Definitely recommend her :)

Alison was like the mum everyone wishes they had: kind, thoughtful, helpful, and completely non-judgemental. She came to support me in a variety of different ways postnatally (including a random trip to IKEA with bub in tow!) in the first few weeks of my baby's life. Could not recommend her enough - the best possible use of money if you're budgeting for a new baby!

Alison was an invaluable part of mine and my husbands journey with the birth of our first child. From the moment we met Alison has been warm, supportive, helped us get info to answer all of our questions large and small. We did not have a straightforward labour and we could not have done it without Alison to be a steady calm and rational member of our team throughout. She looked after us like we are family and made sure we could advocate for ourselves. Alison truly went above and beyond for us during this incredibly huge event in our lives and we still say how glad we are that we found her! I highly recommend working with Alison

Alison is AMAZING! Unbelievably kind, supportive and thoughtful - she’s absolutely the person you want in your team as you navigate through the first few days and weeks of becoming a new family. When I needed advice, Alison was always evidence based and pointed me to some really helpful sources, at the same time as helping me to trust myself and my intuition on what was right for me and my baby. I can 100% say my experience of motherhood wouldn’t be as positive without her.

Alison provided me with immeasurable kindness and support through my pregnancy, birth and postnatally. She has a wonderful calmness about her that combined with a passion and extensive knowledge for birth make her a superb doula. I leant on her for support everytime fear crept in in the lead up to my HBAC. Alison never doubted me and my ability and I achieved my homebirth with my 9lb10oz baby boy in November 2022. Thank you so much Alison, you have gone beyond the call for me time and time again and I cannot put my gratitude into words (especially in my sleep deprived state..!!) THANK YOU!

Alison has been a close and positive support in a time of great challenges to me and you husband, with a new born and with a demanding life schedule. She has been warm and caring when out families were not nearby and we cannot recommend her enough as a very devoted doula. Alison does her job with a passion that shows that it is more important for her to be an anchor for the new mother and a very dedicated positive presence for the family. She is professional and reliable and she is sweet and very kind with a new born. She is well informed and she can provide guidance in a time in which there are many questions and little time to research on a new born needs. Hope this is of help to anyone is in need of a trustworthy doula who can bring serenity and trust in a time of huge changes and needs in the growing family. My baby was sleeping well with her and I felt reassured when he was with her and I needed sleep and rest.

So glad we found Alison for the birth of our second. She was an amazing support in the weeks leading up to the birth. During, my husband and I were able to focus on the task in hand, knowing she was doing her thing in the background to make sure our wishes were followed (where medically possible of course!). And she's been just lovely in the weeks and months since my daughter was born. Just the most wonderful doula!
