Vladimir was meticulous in his attention to detail, and thoroughly explained everything he was surveying and what we needed to be concerned about - and what we didn’t! It was so important to us as novice boaters that we had his calm assurance to rely on, and such a straightforward report to review with clear advices to follow - plus what a lovely chap to deal with! Vladimir was recommended to be by another marine surveyor - in itself a good sign, of course. He accompanied me on two pre-purchase viewings, both of which ended up being unsuitable for me. In the case of these two boats, it's probable that I would have been able to rule them out myself without advice. However, I am extremely glad I used HMS Surveys services for these viewings, for two reasons. 1. I learned so much about what to look for, and what I'm looking at, from Vladimir. I'm still no expert, but it definitely helped me on my long search for a good first boat - which I think I nailed, partly thanks to having a much better idea of what to look for, and what to ignore! 2. It's clear that Vladimir is very professional, and really knows his onions, as a quick bit of googling him will reveal, from his qualifications and awards, and a nice bloke as well - so a really useful contact to have for me as a boat owner, and to recommend to others. I contacted him to undertake a pre-purchase survey on my behalf, but we both had tricky diaries and could not find a date that worked for us, but I would not hesitate to use him.

Vladimir is a true professional in every sense; thorough, meticulous, honest and trustworthy. He gave us a verbal overview on the day of the survey and a few days later produced a very clear and accurate summary of the findings for our prospective Dutch barge purchase. In addition he gave us an hour of his time to talk through the survey over the phone, section by section, giving us the opportunity to ask questions and get any clarifications for anything we were unsure about. A recommendation to use HMS came from a very experienced and well-respected marine surveyor who was simply too busy to carry out a condition survey on a 30 foot river cruiser. I am very pleased I took his advice; meticulous and professional are the two words which sum up Vladimir’s approach and he gave me excellent advice before, during and after the survey. At the end of the survey he walked me through his findings and gave me a really detailed verbal brief on the boat and its condition. What came out was his knowledge and experience along with the care and attention to detail in carrying out the survey, in particular in relation to the condition of the hull. The manager of the boat yard, who was around for the duration of the survey, commented that it was the most detailed survey he had seen undertaken in a very long time. The report threw up a couple of points with respect to the hull. Neither issue was a show stopper (earlier repairs which now required remedial work), but the fact that they were identified (the seller was unaware as they had not been picked up in his survey) has given me peace of mind. The report was received on time and in a follow up discussion I felt that Vladimir gave me balanced and sound advice which I very much appreciated. I would thoroughly recommend HMS and the yard have also added HMS to their list of surveyors for future customers. If Vladimir is willing to travel to your area then don’t hesitate to use his services.

Vladimir carried out a pre-purchase hull survey for us on a narrowboat and was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. He was super informative and made everything really easy to understand. He took the time to give us initial results in person as well as pointing out any areas on the boat which were an issue and recommending any actions that could or should be taken. HMS Surveys delivered a detailed and carefully prepared survey of the Westerly Yacht that I am in the process of buying.
