Blue Hare - self catering accommodation Isle of Harris - dog friendly

We visited Blue Hare in May 2022 and had an amazing time. The property is on the south eastern tip of Harris with views across the inlet and out to sea. We experienced the most profound silence when we were there, it was almost unnerving! Perfect spot to “get away from it all”. Beverley was a great host and helped us out when the ferry was cancelled at short notice.Harris is, of course, amazing - from the lunar landscapes of the east to the famous white sand beaches of the west. We will be back!

Located at the Southern end of the Isle of Harris, this stunning property delivers in every way. The hosts, Angus and Beverley, are attentive and really helpful for walking routes and wildlife suggestions. The property has stunning views over Lingarabay to the North Minch, sunrises are worth waking up early for! Internally the floor to ceiling glass means you never miss the view with the herons and seals an almost permanent fixture when the tide is in. Walking up to the headland from the property I was rewarded with eagles, the herons close by and many seals as well as stunning views.I visited Eilean Glas Lighthouse on Scalpay, the beautiful beaches on the west of the Island including Seilebost & Luskentyre, the Temple at Northton and the North Harris Eagle Observatory. For ParkRunners, the drive up to Stornaway on Saturday morning was rewarded with the most stunning sunrise, many deer, more eagles and views of the snow on the mountains of Bunavoneander and Clisham.Blue Hare is beautifully decorated, warm and equipped with everything you could need including a log burner for any especially cold nights. The elevated location means you have uninterrupted views and total peace.

I was lucky enough to visit Blue Hare recently and can thoroughly recommend a stay here. The views from outside and inside the property are truly breath-taking. I could have happily stayed looking at the landscape and changing views for weeks. Nestled among the rocks, one feels tucked away in this private location. Inside, it's extremely comfortable, warm and snug with a careful and loving attention to details so that tiles, fabric colours and much else besides reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Outside as well as more stunning views across The Minch to Skye there was an abundance of wildlife, in January, there were common seals, otter and great northern divers in the bay, whilst overhead golden eagles used a headland updraft and sea eagles passed by low over the Islets to the haunting calls of raven.

Beautiful place very well build in the middle of a lovely nature nature. We have enjoy a lot.

Blue Hare is an amazing place to spend some time on the beautiful Isle of Harris. Its situation couldn't really be improved - the large panoramic window give views out to the sea and Isle of Skye beyond (weather permitting!), a view you have completely to yourself except for some grazing sheep and any birds that pay you a visit. Is truly relaxing just sitting there and taking it all in. The cabin is very comfortable, cosy, warm and modern, has everything you'd require and is in a great location on the south of the island. Perfect spot to unwind and relax - thoroughly recommended!
