What a great workshop. James is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I had a great day, learnt loads and am delighted with the photos I took. I highly recommend anyone thinking about it to book themselves on a course. I may even see you there as I plan to do many more.

We had decided not to have any formal wedding photos taken, instead asking friends to send us their best pictures after the day, but then we found James! He is a dream to work with, offers flexible packages (we chose a 3hr contract for the wedding ceremony and arrival at the reception) which was brilliant. James took candid and relaxed shots of everyone, all so atmospheric and beautifully shot, we wish we'd kept him with us all day!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Cuckmere Haven course with James. He is an excellent photography teacher and knows all the spots that offered the most breath taking views. James's guidance on framing, balance, and capturing the essence of a scene was invaluable. As a result, we all came back with a collection of stunning photos :) Thank you James!

I thoroughly enjoyed the photography workshop with James Ratchford! We had a lovely little group, which meant that we all had a lot of personal attention and help from James, and we all got along really well. James is an unassuming and modest man, but he is a hugely talented photographer who taught us things in a few hours that would have taken years of study to learn. I definitely have a much better grasp of what I can do with my camera than I ever had before. The weather wasn't perfect, but I'm not sure we can blame James for that! But it was a worthwhile experience, whatever the weather. I would definitely recommend James's workshops, and I hope to join another one soon!Thank you James!

I spent a great afternoon with James on a photographic walk around Seaford Head. James provided hands-on instructions on the use of my camera, advice on the composition of pictures, and shared his wide knowledge of photography. I would definitely recommend James' experiences and plan to look into some of his other photographic walk destinations.

Such an amazing experience! James was an excellent guide and within the first 5 minutes of the workshop I understood my camera more than ever before. A great activity to get out of your comfort zone and meet some new people. Highly recommend! :)

James has a great way of explaining technique and a really good and relaxed manner that makes the workshop very easy to be in. The location for my workshop, Cuckmere Haven, was perfect, with lots of opportunity for different types of shots and also with changing light conditions. I'd absolutely recommend James's workshops to anyone looking to learn more about their camera and lens, and for advice on their technique.

I have just spent the most glorious morning on a photography walk around Cuckmere Haven , East Sussex . From the start our small group were made to feel comfortable and at ease . James gave instructions clearly and was incredibly supportive throughout . I learnt so much, even after the official walk had finished . I am looking forward to using all my new skills and would highly recommend this walk . In fact I am already planning to join another one. Thank you

James was easy to work with and I learnt a lot of new skills that i can use for further photography sessions with my camera. My photos definately improved from the start of the workshop to the end.

I did the Birling Gap and Seven Sisters walk with James, and enjoyed the experience immensely. James is extremely patient, and he knows where all the best photography spots are at. I was shooting exclusively with a film camera and a 50mm lens mounted on it, and the photos turned out to be stunning and much better than I expected. James is very honest and open with his photography tips, and I learnt so much from him. He was very responsive and professional from the beginning when I was making an appointment, and made the process very smooth and pleasant. I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in that part of England to book a photography walk with James. As for myself, I am very much looking forward to doing the Cuckmere Haven photography walk with him the next time I’m back!
