Castle Acre Priory
An interesting building with enough ruins to imagine it as it would have been when it was the Priory. Interesting to find that the maximum number of monks was around 35, and there were 24 toilets!

Castle Acre Priory
Castle Acre Priory is a truly fascinating site providing a glimpse into life almost a century ago.I visited the site as part of my long-term photography project to visit as many historic sites across the UK as I can and it certainly was worth visiting.Whilst most of the monastery is in ruin, there are still several really well preserved sections. One of these is the Priory lodgings which is in really good condition given it's age.An audio tour is available which is really informative and transports you back in time as your imagine how the monks lived at the Priory. If you find yourself in North Norfolk, Castle Acre Priory is definitely worth a visit. It's maintained by English Heritage. There is a small museum on the site also.

Castle Acre Priory
Absolutely a superb ruined Abbey, extensive remains and some.rooms that were later converted to a farm are still accessible. Plenty of room for kids to have a run around. Ruins are extensive and some really good pieces of masonry is still visible, the entrance shop has some panels explaining the history of the site, toilets are available and a small selection of snacks in the shop.

Castle Acre Priory
A beautiful piece of history, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk around the site at my leisure and take in the history that is there. You can easily imagine how it must have looked before it was destroyed. It was great being able to go inside and climb the very narrow staircase. Luckily for me, I have small feet! Definitely worth a visit!

Castle Acre Priory is situated at Priory Rd, Castle Acre, King's Lynn PE32 2AA. This is a wonderful historical castle with well maintained columns and stones originated in several hundred years ago. Visitors can make use of the hearing set collected at the entrance at £9.5 for each adult or £17.2 for two person. This Castle has plenty of scenery spots than the Castle Acre located nearby. Highly recommended to pay the entrance fee and enjoy a wonderful scene there. Plenty of parking space is provided here.

Lovely morning out with the dog (added bonus being able to take her round). Amazing to see some of the priory still standing and being able to go inside was an added bonus. The stairs are so steep and narrow, if you have big feet, beware!

Well managed, beautiful complex that is both serene and thought provoking. Parking available both inside and outside the ancient gate. Informative visitor center with displays, gift shop, and a knowledgeable host. Extensive ruins on groomed grounds with multiple display boards explaining the history. Learning that the complex was destroyed during the Reformation under Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell helped me reflect on various incarnations of cultural revolutions around the world and their disastrous consequences for cultural heritage.

Castle Acre Priory
One of the largest and best preserved monastic sites in England, the priory dates back to 1090. It was the home of the first Cluniac order of monks to England and the Cluniac love of decoration can be seen throughout the extensive ruins.Highlighted features include the striking west end church gable, the Prior's lodging and substantial remains of many of the buildings round the cloister. The trail leaflet is a great way to find your way around and futher afield to the Bailey Gate and Castle Acre Castle the other side of the village. There are several benches in the grounds to enjoy a picnic whilst taking in views of the Priory. Well worth a visit!
