Ember Ironwork

A fabulous present from my wife to have a go at forging. I have never made anything in metal since school. Yet with fantastic guidance from Richard, I made a boot scrapper. He instructed on how to heat the metal, how to hammer and shape the materials to then construct and weld.I will definitely return and have a go at another project.

Loved every minute of our blacksmithing course to make a sword! Richard was a great instructor, happy to step in and help when needed but also happy to let us give everything a go and do most of the work ourselves. Also a great part of the experience was how flexible he was, we could make the sword any shape, any size we wanted. Thanks a lot!

I recently enjoyed a two day Damascus knife making workshop with Richard at the Ember Ironworks forge.The knife making experience was the perfect balance between learning and using the various knife making techniques. Richard explained what to do and then was on hand if needed. The two days were very well paced and I could take my time to make sure that my knife was the best I could make.I came away with an awesome knife that I will always be proud of and some great memories of the two days I spent as a ‘blade smith apprentice’ with Richard!!A brilliant experience and highly recommended to anyone with an interest in knife making.

Absolutly fantastic experience. Richard the owner/Blacksmith at Ember is a complete gent, he is helpful, friendly and a great teacher! Went for a Damascus Knife making experience day. Didn't know what to expect but was more then happy with what I got! Class sizes are small so you have more then enough time dedicated to you for instruction and help. Equipment is all quality and easy to use for novices. Really can't recommend enough. Will probably be back when I can convince the other half it's worth me expending the cash on. If you are looking for a experience in a forge I think this is one of the best you could get!

Totally Awesome experience with authentic coal forge. Richard was a great teacher, and we learnt so much! Made some really cool stuff and can’t wait to share this experience again with our friends and families! Perfect gift for a birthday or celebration. Not something I thought I’d ever do but I’m so glad I did!
