Lemonroyd Waterside & Marina

Saw a YouTube video so decided to visit.Pleasant walk.

An attractive location, clean and tidy. Plenty of good walks and cycling, and RSPB St Aidens nearby. Good amenities.

Leisurely walks and calming views are accompanied by a well kept marina. There are some public parking spaces and some private ones. The area is popular with cyclists and walkers. There are several canalside views, with benches to rest and enjoy the usually quiet environmentThe marina is privately owned and has moorings, electric, water and a toilet block. It is a community in and of itself.The road into the Lemonroyd canalside is the blot on the otherwise lovely scene. The road surface is very poor and really needs improvement.There are no street lights, so a daytime visit is the only advised option.There are no disabled facilities or public toilets. The nearest shop is a mile up hill in Oulton.A pleasant place for a sunny stroll.

I love this place and regularly walk or cycle en route to St Aidens. Canal sides always seem so tranquil and good for the soul. My last visit saw the water frozen across, right up to the boats.

We had a great walk along the canal, ending up at the marina. First time walk in this area , but will definitely be back. Only downside is that there are no places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Just missing a bench or two.

Some great walks around here and mainly flat so would suit all abilities, The nature reserve here is really good with river and wetland areas easily viewable across the river so not disturbed by walkers so lots of birds attracted. Wetland easily viewable and right next to the road/car park so but that means on a good sunny day the car parks (all free) can fill up very quickly.

Walked by on a clear day, from St Aidan's RSPB Car Park. Great circular walk, interesting stuff to see and pass by.

A beautiful walk along the canal with many routes to explore, great for the family, walk, jog, run or cycle it's lovely ... Although, be prepared for the midges!
