Avoid at all costs! We started off with the student energy group without any trouble for the first month or so of our policy, however shortly afterwards we had received bills from other energy companies, with TSEG losing their contracts with their providers, and hadn't notified us for months until we had to go to them. They offered to take over the account back in march and to this day have not, getting the names of the providers and tenants wrong on multiple occasions, leading to us being threatened with legal action and debt collectors from energy companies. Similarly, we have also received invoices from sewage/water companies stating they haven't received any payment during our tenancy, which was also supposed to be sorted out by TSEG, as well as threats of home visits by the TV Licensing companies. I don't actually know what we're paying them for anymore as we've had to take matters into our own hands with companies, but they seem more than happy to remain charging us monthly. Would have been better off doing it ourselves from day one. Will be writing a formal complaint also.

I moved into my new property on the 6th September and the previous tenant was with this company. I’ve now called them three times and have amassed a huge amount of emails to them, often getting zero response, in my quest and right to change to a gas provider of my choice. The provider I want to use, keeps having the request rejected by Student Energy Group for no reason. 5 weeks and I’m still waiting and they don’t respond to any emails. They then send me a bill for triple what I’d normally pay for a property of this size, with no explanation or request for a metre reading. I feel totally trapped and will be going to Ofgem. Do not use them!

Fantastic service, great communication and so attentive. It's been a stressful and time consuming process getting such a large portfolio of properties moved across, but things couldn't have run much smoother. Particular thanks to Clare and Izzy, who have been there to help however they can throughout the whole process - even helping us celebrate completion with a pizza day for the office!

Avoid at all costs. They are not an energy supplier as they do not have a supply license but will pretend to be one. They charge 50p a unit yes that’s right 50p - all they do is rip off students it’s unbelievable. Tomato energy were the supplier when we moved in but said we had to deal with these clowns. They didn’t let us transfer and landed us with a bill 3 times higher than British Gas. Go to British Gas cheaper and better. Avoid these rip off merchants - they are out to make money off students not to help them

Awful! At the end of the tenancy we asked for an account reconciliation because we thought we had overpaid. They misread the readings and charged us £600 each. After a week or so of complaining they got back to us and told us that they did in fact owe us £300. It has been over two weeks since we received the final reconciliation and I am still yet to receive the money despite being told yesterday that I would receive it first thing the next day. Avoid!

This is possibly the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Moved into a student house that they previously supplied, and have been on a 8 week mission to switch over to a new supplier. I have Been told various different stories every time I call up. Then when I finally thought I saw progress and they said if you pay half of the ridiculous estimated bill you’d be able to switch within 5 days and get a refund within 10 days once they readjusted the quote. I have waited 2 weeks now and no new bill, called up and told it would take 6 weeks. An absolute joke of a company never give them your money or time of day, will be going to OFJEM to report this.

The worst customer service ever. Unfortunately I have had to deal with The Student Energy’s Group customer service for a few months now and all I can say about them is they are useless. From being on hold for half an hour, to being lied to it is ridiculous, appalling and unacceptable. Having spoken to a customer service member I was given written proof that my bills would drop around £35 the next month. I was then disgusted to find this was not the case as they member of staff had forgotten to deal with this matter. I then tried to follow through with a phone call where I was first in line for forty minutes. I would avoid this pathetic excuse for a business as the rip students off and make it extremely hard to ever get out of the agreement.

Spoke with Sam, part of the sales team I believe, and he was the most helpful person I have ever spoken to from a bills company. We noticed we had overpaid for the past year and they were quick to rectify the situation and Sam, specifically, was extremely helpful.

We signed up to the Student Energy Group in July and we were onboarded speedily. We were informed that the student energy group needed to transition our gas provider. In March, we are still with our original gas provider and despite numerous calls, emails and promises the student energy group are yet to see this through. We were offered two months free broadband as compensation but they are yet to action what we wanted. We would have been better off doing this ourselves. The student energy group have created huge difficulties for myself and my housemates and I would wholeheartedly encourage you to look elsewhere for this sort of service. We are 9 months in to a 12 month tenancy and yet to see any resolution so we have had to resort to leaving this bad review.
