Banging day out with Dan, learnt a lot, day was tailored to skills we wanted to develop, looking forward to our next day out!

Dan is highly experienced and a confident instructor. He has a calm, polite and friendly manner which helped me feel relaxed as a novice in the climbing world.I would definitely recommend Dan and his service if you are looking for a great experience at a reasonable cost.

2nd time we have been out with Dan. He has been great with the kids they loved both times. They were the ones that wanted to go out with him again. He is really informative with everything he does from bouldering, top rope, caving, abseiling and even the history of the places we have been. We will be going with him again I'm sure. Thanks for every thing. Highly recommend him for a day out climbing and adventuring.

Cannot thank Dan, Charlie and Gus enough for this weekend and highly recommend DDJ for anyone wanting to do one of their courses.Our uni group went up to the peaks to learn and refresh our trad skills and knowledge so we can safely run club trips throughout the year.They completely exceeded our expectations and provided such a thorough, clear and enjoyable course for the day.The entire group had a brilliant time and the whole day was amazing and we learnt so much.All of the guys had extensive knowledge and experience and we are all extremely grateful to be able to learn even a tiny amount of that.Hopefully we will bump into them when we get back to the crag!

I booked Dan for day's bespoke instruction at Wharncliffe to help me prepare for my Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) assessment, and I couldn't have been more pleased with what I got.Dan came very well prepared, despite the day being arranged at fairly short notice and it being a bespoke rather than an 'off the shelf' day's instruction. I got a day that was well adapted to my needs, focussing on the stuff I was least confident with.From the start, Dan's calm and friendly manner put me at ease, and we made good use of the time on the walk in discussing crag selection, reading approach information and maps, keeping clients safe on the approach, and using it to assess their confidence and capabilities.Dan's experience shone through in the confidence and efficienfcy with which he operated at the crag, and the clarity of his instruction. For each technique we focussed on, a simple explanation, a demonstration, repetition, a chance for me to perform what I'd been shown, followed by a summary of what we'd been through, and another chance to practice the technique later in the day, after we'd looked at other topics, really helped everything stick.Communication both before and after was great, Dan following up with helpful notes and feedback to make sure I got the most out of our time at the crag. He checked in to see how my RCI assessment had gone, and thanks in part to his instruction, I was happy to tell him I'd passed. Thanks Dan!An experienced, adaptable, affable and impeccably professional instructor, I can't recommend Dan highly enough to anyone looking for a climbing or mountaineering guide or instructor.

We had a brilliant day out climbing with Dan, he is an easy going and all-round great guy! He took us trad climbing at Froggatt edge. He was able to navigate the crag really well in finding us suitable climbs despite it being busy, as it was a beautiful sunny day!I personally really struggle with ‘the head game’. So, he taught us best practice for placing gear to increase my confidence in lead climbing. Whilst I was lead climbing, he was there to support me 1-1, confirming what I had learnt but also providing alternatives to broaden my awareness.Dan provided us both with the skills to be able to go out and lead climb confidently and safely. It is clear he has tons of climbing experience, this combined with his ability to coach really well meant we had the best climbing experience!Thank you Dan!
