This place is a building site. We booked 4 nights, only stayed for 1. Couldn't find the reception when we arrived. Got directed by a builder through unattended power tools and debris everywhere to the reception. Everywhere indoors was covered in sawdust. The electrics tripped out over night in our lodge causing all are stuff in the fridge to go to waste. Hornets nest in the roof, when the workman came out to look at it , he told my 4 year old daughter that one sting could kill her !Went to complain at reception, had to walk past circular saws and people hanging planks of wood over my head. After deciding to go home, went to reception to hand in my keys. This was now all cordoned off. Had to go through a back entrance through loads more builders stuff. We should have been made aware that building work was going on when booking !

Our lodge was absolutely perfect, so cozy in the evenings on a chilly October night. Kitchen has everything you need and the rooms are light and airy. The whole site has been so relaxing for me and my boys, daily tennis and badminton and a relaxing swim in the private pool rounded off a great day. I look forward to coming back when all the renovations have been done. The park is a perfect place to get away from it all

The lodge was freezing on arrival and the only form of heating for the bedrooms was portable plug in heaters. No heat in bathroom at all. Woodburner in lounge cost £20 for bags of wood and could easily use that in one evening. Doors wouldn't shut without considerable force and our autistic grandson shut himself in the bedroom and the door catch jammed and the door had to be forced open!Lodge looks grubby and unloved. Bed pillows filthy and stained, glad we took our own.Overall, cheap and poor quality. You get what you pay for. Pool just warm enough but hot tub cold Shop is a couple of shelves and shouldn't be advertised as a shop!

The log cabin friar tuck was rustic & in the woods just what we booked with a smell a sweet smokiness. Really clean & crisp sheets & towels. Reception staff could do with a little more friendliness & treating young adults better. The pool should be allowed to be booked for more than 30 minutes as this includes getting undressed & signing in. All facilities should be included as is with all other hoseasons we've been to not a charge of £10 for tennis, table tennis & game of pool for 1 hour per day! The animal corner is wonderful & feeding them every day is lovely. The surroundings are beautiful & the woods have play areas tyre swings & little plaques everywhere, a fun amazing part of sherwood forest. We loved our log cabin & never drew the curtains as the feel of the big windows with nothing but trees squirrels & rustling leaves was heavenly. The place was beautiful. :)

The good part; the location is fabulous for accessibility to places to walk and days out.Cabin 'pet 10' where we just spent the weekend: probably the dirtiest place I've ever rented to stay. If you can get past the cobwebs, black mould in the bathroom, rotting vent alongside general stickiness the cabin is quite cute. The furnishings probably date back to when the park first opened, so prepare to leave with backache and abit grubby as you'd rather wait to get home to wash than bring yourself to use the mouldy shower. The pool; you book your private half hour slot to find there is several families in there and your slot was shared" so you can't actually swim

Great rooms and we made use of the swimming pool which was great. Would have been nicer to have been able to book a longer slot. This place honestly could easily be a 5 star rating with a few additions. There isn't much around the area and any pub is realistically a short drive away. I'd Sherwood Castle had a small bar that stayed open late I honestly believe you'd have people from all cabins showing up for a game of pool in a communal area. Although the cabins are lovely and you can make your own fun, it would be nice for some sort of later night facility to occupy guests.

The facilities within the cabin could do with a major update, and most cabins from the outside appear well worn. Plenty of things around for our 2 young children to do and adventure trails around the woods were lovely with hidden play areas and a small animal corner where feed could be purchased from the onsite shop. Great to have the pool to yourself, even if it is for 30 minutes as we felt this well suited our children who are not yet confident swimmers. The only issue we had was most of the cutlery/crockery in our cabin had been left in a partly clean state, but wasn't an issue for us as dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid were provided. Overall it has been a pleasant stay and we have found the staff here helpful and accomodating unlike some of the reviews that have been left

Definitely not relaxing, nor worth the money!Ridiculously overpriced, cabins are filthy, we had a mattress soaked in urine which we were told was changed when in fact it was turned over, all bedding was filthy and stained as were all mattress and pillows!Dining table was so sticky your clothes stuck to it even after attempting to clean it multiple times, Dust and cobwebs on every surface, filthy dirty cutlery, pots, pans and plates, fridge had mould in it, oven was filthy oh the list could go on!We stayed two weeks, there was no offer of clean towels or bedding, nor any way of us cleaning these ourselves as there is no laundry on site! From the moment we arrived there were refurbishment works being carried out next door to us, the was from 8.00am - 8.00pm, fuel powered jet washes going off all day, drilling, banging your name it! Should this not be done out of season?Edited to add on our last night they were working on the Chalet next to ours, the workers were on the roof jet washing until gone 9.00pm, when I approached them at 8 and asked them to stop please as I had children to get to bed I was basically told they were employed too do a job and hadn’t finished yet, “talk to reception “ reception closed at 7 and no one wanted to answer the Emergency number !!Finally the pool and activities area…. The pool was cloudy the whole two weeks we were on site and I never once smelt chlorine in there, my son developed a nasty rash after the first time of using it, the floors are filthy dirty and so is the shower!£5 every time your kids want to play basketball, tennis etc for half an hour, comes expensive when it’s raining!(Edited to add here) a few members of staff on site appeared to realise we weren’t happy and did their best to support and help my children to have the best experience possible in the situation!Overall though we were absolutely disgusted and disappointed considering the amount that was spent on coming here, and NO we wouldn’t be returning! This is not the first disappointment from Hoseasons and would certainly make us think again about using them in the future!!!

The Cabins could be charming if they were updated and the carpets replaced and added a few home touches. Although clean there was a strange smell in the living room. The beds weren't very comfortable and the pillows were very thin indeed! The towels were also poor quality. There's a full size under counter fridge as well as a freezer, cooker, hob, microwave, toaster, pans and utensils and a dishwasher so you can do proper self catering. However the crockery could do with being replaced as scratched and mismatched. All cabins have a balcony, BBQ stand and a picnic table. It needed brushing down as covered in leaves and cobwebs. For those that want a break from cooking, we fully recommend Paddyfields Chinese take away. (They deliver to your cabin door and it's cash on delivery.) Plenty of space for kids to run around in the playgrounds, there's also den building ,a walking path through the woodland as well as an animal corner with a few sheep and pygmy goats. The cabins run pretty much along one road so you won't get lost finding your cabin after a day off site. It is worth noting the road is narrow and unsafe for children to cycle on, you can't drive around the park or to reception. The swimming pool needs to be booked in advance and you only get a half hour session. You share your allocated time slot with another family. There are other activities such as tennis available but you need to pay for this. You really need to bring a football and a couple of board games with you as there's no WiFi anywhere on site and signal for mobile data is poor. There's also no dvd player and only Freeview channels available on the TV which would often loose signal. To make our stay more comfortable a launderette would have been welcomed as well as a little hoover in the cabin to keep on top of house keeping. There is a broom and dust pan and brush but the living room has a carpet and soon became quite dirty with us traipsing in and out. Would we come back? If they took down the naff wall canvases, stopped disinfecting the dining table so it was sticky, replaced the mattresses, bedding, towels and carpets, extended the swimming pool times, added soft play and provided a few more home touches then yes as the location is perfect as are the grounds.
