Holgate Windmill
Had a great time, try to visit on one of the open days, as they have volunteers explaining about the windmill and live demonstrations too. There is also a shop where you can buy the flour as well as other souvenirs. All in all very interesting, allow 30 minutes at least

Holgate Windmill
When we visited, it was opened as part of the resident's weekend in York. The windmill has been beautifully restored and has a very enthusiastic team of volunteers behind its management. It was lovely to walk around and talk to the team involved, and my kids very much enjoyed counting the hidden plush mice. Parking is on the street.

Holgate Windmill
Beautifully restored historic windmill used for flour milling. Nice place for a half hour walk from central York. Has a small shop selling flour, recipe books and souvenirs. The lady in the shop was very welcoming. Hilltop location offers views back over central York towards and including York Minster. During Covid restrictions you can't go inside or climb unfortunately, but the shop remains open.

What a truly wonderful visit. My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the gentleman who showed us round was very knowledgeable and welcoming.

Best value visitor attraction in York! Really interesting working history with knowledgeable, passionate staff who really go above and beyond to make your visit pleasurable. I will be back regularly to buy flour!

Holgate Windmill
The windmill is such a striking feature in the middle of a residental area just 20 minutes walk from the town centre. The coolest roundabout you will ever see. It is perfectly restored and working with a shop that sells flour bags in different weight. The charity is run by enthusiastic volunteers who show you around and tell you the story of this amazing building. Very educational for the whole family

Beautifully restored. Sadly shut on a Sunday when we were there but apparently it still grinds flour some will be back to see this.Nearby Holgate park is also great if you are out on a walk.
