Chestnut Morgan were recommended to us by a friend. We had been looking for a building company to renovate our damp and leaky Victorian barn/outbuilding.Our vision was to transform it into a cosy sanctuary suitable for my holistic healing business, White Wings Wellbeing.David Morgan and his team used their expert knowledge to guide us and together we developed the design concept, which they then brought to life.Their professionalism, quality of workmanship and communication were consistently excellent throughout the months they were working on the project, and beyond with their after care service.The workers were punctual, committed, communicative, respectful, polite, friendly and always clean and tidy.We wanted to retain the character of the building and were very impressed with how Chestnut Morgan always overcame the unforeseen challenges that inevitably presented when working on an old building.We were absolutely delighted with the high standard of finish and how the space works for us. Myself and my wife bought my grandparents old house, which although much loved was in need of some serious work to make it liveable. Being quite young and having no experience about what we needed to do, we stumbled across Chestnut Morgan and thought it worth asking their opinion of costs and next steps.David is caring and thorough and came out and gave us an honest opinion of what we could do and came back to us quickly with a shopping list of the items and allowed us to pick the important ones with our budget.Jarek & Keith were on site and given that we had no heating, we left them a key and they took such great care of the house whilst they were working there. Everything was kept so neat and tidy which was important as when we visited we knew it was being looked after in our absence.We had walls knocked through, new central heating and rewire as well as completely moving the kitchen from back to front and many other bits involved. David helped when I was panicking around budgets and building control and took the time to talk me through everything.They are such a friendly company who actually care about what they are doing. I’m not surprised they are so busy and they come with my very strong recommendation. Thanks to all for what you did for us. We now have a home which we will be happy to live in for many years to come.

We used David and his team to renovate our cellar. What really stood out to me was their efforts to really understand what we wanted and to ask for our preferences every time there was a design decision. It seems simple, but so often tradesmen make assumptions that mean opportunities to make spaces personal and special are missed. With David’s team you can be sure you’ll be consulted and that David will diligently research the possible options to help guide you.

Chestnut Morgan did an excellent job on my Orangery extension and filled all of the gaps that architects, building inspectors and suppliers left between them. Workmanship was excellent as was timing and setting of realistic expectations.

David and his team worked well to create a lovely building with attention to detail in build quality, function, finish and aesthetics. Those qualities have been noted by everyone who’s had a look at the extension. As with any project, there were trials, difficulties and upsets along the way, but most of his workers cared about doing a great job and they were effectively managed by David’s site manager, who worked there every day. He knew what he was doing, and he liked his people to get the detail right. When things went wrong, which is inevitable occasionally, they were put right.I liked the fact that I was usually asked what I wanted if there were decisions & choices to be made along the way, so it wasn’t a case of just choosing the ‘easiest’ option. I was there most days so was available to be asked my preferences, for example when there were discrepancies on the plans. I researched a lot of things, but so did David who spent time & effort finding, amongst other things, a selection of suitable tiles, bricks & matching mortar to choose from and a suitable sewage pump.Always worried about spending too much on anything, I was concerned when David’s was the highest quote. Even so, I asked him to do the work because he also seemed the most passionate about doing a great job, and in the long run, that’s what you want when creating a building to live in and that will be there for so many decades!Despite the torrential rain, winds and heat that we’ve had in the year since things were finished there have been no leaks or mishaps, which must be testament to being well built. Other than an issue with draining of the wet room floor (which had needed sorting out in the original design), the snagging list was short & consisted of very minor things, which were all sorted out very easily. Nothing was a problem. David wanted us to be happy with everything.
