What an incredible night at The Storm Shelter, home of the Manchester Storm! This venue, owned by Planet Ice, added to the overall enjoyment of the event. The facilities provided by The Venue were not only suitable but also contributed significantly to the game day experience. As for the Manchester Storm, they truly put on a great show. While the Nottingham Panthers emerged victorious with a 4-2 win, the Storm displayed remarkable sportsmanship and determination throughout. It's evident that this team has a bright future ahead. The atmosphere in the arena remained family-friendly, and the club shop offered reasonably priced merchandise for die-hard fans. Refreshments were also available at acceptable prices.Additionally, The Venue offers public ice skating and lessons during the week and weekends, making it a versatile and engaging place for people of all ages and skill levels.I wholeheartedly recommend attending a Manchester Storm game at The Storm Shelter to support this exceptional team and enjoy a fantastic sporting experience!

The facilities at Planet Ice Altrincham, especially during morning patch, are absolutely shocking. The ice pad is covered in lumps that can be as high as 5cm each, which is an extremely dangerous hazard and has caused many unnecessary falls and injuries. In addition to this, skaters also have water dripping all over them from the ceiling. This is an issue that we have at Planet Ice Altrincham EVERY summer.I train at this rink 5 to 6 mornings per week, however, it’s impossible to attempt working on your skills with the ice being in such a bad condition when the weather is warm. I had been lucky enough to never injure myself badly because of the lumps until Wednesday this week when my blade caught a really high lump whilst I was skating backwards. Needles to say, I’ve had to stop training this week as my right knee and wrist are badly bruised, swollen and in a lot of pain. However, this has also affected my day to day at work as I can’t perform my tasks properly.Trying to find a way to be able to train, skaters that tend to be on the ice at 6am (myself included) would spend a good 20 to 25 minutes of their practice trying to remove the lumps with their own blades, risking damaging them. Countless times I'd be asked what had I done to my blades by the person who grinds them, as the edges would have marks and dents from this.Frustrated skaters have tried getting a resolution from the local staff, who say HQ aren’t willing to provide budget to fix the issue, which is totally unacceptable. Apart from the additional costs that come from loving skating (i.e. private lessons, parking, etc.) we pay a rather expensive monthly fee to be able to train. The least that management can do is ensure the facilities are up to a standard for us to do so.

Absolutely amazing, I can't I've skate but its something my 6 year old has wanted to do for a while, oh wow. Customer service is spot on. Theres a guy who works on there, he's absolutely amazing, he take his time to show my 6 year old how to skate slowly, done everything he could do for her and me. She had amazing time, ended up with the polar bear, we had a blast again cant thank the guy enough xxx

A friend and I went ice skating on Saturday. Despite pre booking and pre-paying for skates, they had ran out of skates in my size and the ones I eventually got were really painful to wear. I was told that it was just “like this at peak time”, but in that case I don’t understand why I was charged to rent skates at all when pre booking? The people I spoke to at the rental kiosk were pretty rude and said that I had to wait for someone else to turn in some skates and tried to make it my problem for coming at peak time(?!). The ones I eventually had were in poor condition and I couldn’t fasten them properly but it had been about 40 minutes since I’d arrived and only an hour left before the rink shut so I just put them on and tried to skate with my friend who had been struggling on the rink on her own the whole time. Pretty poor experience. I won’t be coming back and if I hadn’t gotten skates that fit me I would’ve asked for a full refund. You should ask people to state their shoe size beforehand on the booking form so they can get some skates that actually fit even at busy times. Not good!

Overall it was a good experience with my daughter. It's expensive for what it is when compared with, say, roller skating. However, it is a captive market for the rink as there isn't exactly a great deal of competition in the area. The hire skates were abysmal as the blades were completely blunt and did not grip the ice whatsoever. I exchanged them for an equally bad pair. Some basic maintenance is in order. Fortunately, I am quite an experienced skater from my youth but if someone inexperienced was using these skates I actually think that could be quite dangerous for them. I have since purchased skates for my daughter and myself so we will be going again. If you are thinking of skating regularly I would highly recommend getting your own skates unless you want to run the risk of using the poorly maintained ones at Altrincham ice rink.Edit - response to Planet Ice. The skates were size 8. My daughter and I were there last night and had a great time, thanks!

The ice skating was absolutely great fun, and we most probably will return again. However the facilities were a little disappointing, the toilets were pretty awful,at the bottom of the hand dryer was scum and the toilets felt grubby like they needed a deep clean. There were 2 vending machines not working. However these problems didn't affect us having fun. No staff to chat to as we left.

A good ice rink with decent facilities. Toilets, cafe, vending machines etc. Staff are friendly and helpful. It could be quite pricy when you think you have to pay to skate, pay extra to hire skates, pay for parking and then pay for a locker if you want to store your things. Lockers are £2 for 3 hours or £3 for 6 hours. They have great little aids for young ones who struggle to skate - such as penguins / polar bears / seals for young kids to hold on to while they skate. Price to hire:£7 penguin£7.50 polar bear£8 sealThe kids loved it and there is no time limits. We slated for almost 3 hours. Overall a very decent place and a good day out for the family, although it could be a tad pricy.

I frequent here for the ice hockey and there's absolutely no complaints about that. Plenty of food and drink choices on offer (expect queues though), good club shop and the atmosphere is incredible. Fans are like no other, always so friendly and helpful. Storm Support do an amazing job supporting the club and fans too.The venue however could do with an update. Some proper ventilation and some new plastic panels would go a long way to improving the experience on both game days and general skating sessions. Toilets also could do with an update.Highly recommended for a visit on a game day.

Definitely newer and more maintained than the one on Bradford, but the rink itself is exactly the same, so if you're skating they are both the same. This is more expensive too.If you're just observing, like me (with my baby), then maybe you'll notice these little things. No cafe midweek though.... But loads of vending machines for hot and cold, sweet and savory. Quiet midweek, can't comment on weekends. But £2 charge for non-skaters....

Nice hockey match for the UK. We're from Slovakia, so ice hockey and the league is much better in our country, but for UK, we loved the match and the stadium.
